The singers are strategically positioned in small groups according to the partition they have to sing. Much practice is required to streamline the whole chorus in one beautiful rendition!
I loved it--seemingly spontaneous, but of course it was anything but--this portion from my favorite Christmas piece, "Messiah." The Hallelujah Chorus, sung here, comes in partway through the oratorio. It is said that King George VI of England (the king with the stammering problem) was once in an audience listening to this being performed. When they came to this part, in respect he stood--whereupon everyone else stood as well. I liked the way they had others join the first woman who sang. Two singers got up on chairs, and one guy sang who had been carrying a yellow "Caution Wet Floor" sign! This made my day.
Hi all,
ReplyDeleteReally magnificent! This Flash Mob random act of culture is not really so random.
Would anyone care to opine as to how this complex, multi-part choral work is being conducted and orchestrated in this mall environment?
Don't guess, observe carefully and comment on your thoughts.

Great. Does anyone else just jump up and sing with them? Is that OK?
ReplyDeleteHave they done this locally?
