WHAT A "NIGHT AT THE OPERA"!
I wonder how many others enjoyed last night's "A Night at the Opera" performance at the Clubhouse. Aria after aria from many famous operas was sung by the four singers: a soprano, a mezzo-soprano, a tenor and a baritone. There were solos, duets, and at least twice all four participated. There was a good turnout, and it seemed the audience got increasingly caught up in it all, As the first few notes of some of the later selections were sung, the audience, recognizing what was coming, would burst into applause in anticipation. I thought it was magnificent and hope there will be many more such Clubhouse performances of grand opera selections. Bravo!
Hi Lanny, You are right..what a wonderful performance. Unfortunately we only had about 395 to 400 people. The residents who don't go to these shows are really missing out.
Lanny, the attendance was very poor. however, those of us that did, were most appreciative, particulary, the selections presented in the 2nd half which of course were most familiar. Needless to say, there is no comparison to a full blown presentation of an Opera,as David has stated. Once more, as in the past, we will have the opportunity to enjoy "The Joys of Opera" a weekly class, conducted by Dr. Roni Klein(a personal friend) whom over many yrs.has enriched my knowledge..
Hi Barbara and Bettie, It seemed to me the attendance was very good, but I didn't count numbers. What I saw was probably the turnout simply exceeding my expectations. I'm sure you are both right, thank you.
