Well, er, not exactly, Bob, or I mean not all the time. I thought some local (CV) news had escaped me, but Elaine's response got me more confused than I naturally am. I looked up her guy and he invented a red cup? I have red cups in my cupboard, several of them. I see you are referring to international news, though. Now that IS important, or at least more important than a red cup. (Where is that Elaine's head these days?)
It's hard to keep up with things nowadays. The news pours in from all over and does so 24/7. Was it ever like this in history? Keeping up with it almost leaves no time to LIVE. Imagine that: a life spent entirely hearing and discussing what others are doing while having no time to do anything oneself. In the "good old days" you might find out about a war being won two months after the fact. Even the CV news I find overpowering sometimes.
Speaking of CV news (and your most recent fiery blog post), a few years ago I got stopped for making a "rolling stop" through the intersection of West and South streets. "Not a full stop," the cop said, and he was right. I didn't cause an accident, but I got fined $160, which was enough to make me STOP at the stop signs thereafter.
Even I have been guilty of "rolling stops" also known as a "California stop", but I make it a conscience effort to come to a complete stop, especially when there is traffic in any direction. I am by no means perfect, but we have people here that do not hve a clue and SHOULD NOT be on the road.
If I was making any conscious effort at all, it was more likely to see if there was a COP in any direction. Driving south on West Drive toward the Okee gate, they like to hide in the parking area to the right of that four-way intersection. This cop was ahead of me, and I thought was flagging down a motorist ahead of me, past the intersection. No such luck, I found out. I was fortunate, though. He was a nice guy, very polite, and said the charge would not affect my insurance. He was doing his job and doing it well.
I am going to have a quaff right now of a homemade cosmopolitan, or cosmo as they call it. In one of my red cups, OF COURSE. Responding to Bob and you has driven me to drink.
