REMEMBER ON THIS 75TH. ANNIVERSARY OF THE INVASION AT NORMANDY - JUNE 6, 1944
Remember it, I will. I was a child on that day, seven years old. Our dad had told us two years before about the coming invasion through England, and I wondered why it was taking so long. Little did I know what was involved—the ocean crossing of troops, the buildup of forces in England; the army, navy and marines; the care taken to disguise where we would land and when; the brave 82nd and 101st Airborne paratroopers; Eisenhower, Bradley, Montgomery, Patton…. It was the greatest invasion in history. So many of our men died on that day. So many died on Omaha Beach. You are right: may we not forget the terrible price paid for our liberty.
