OFFICERS COMMITTEE - SEPTEMBER 26, 2019 - LIVE IN CYBERSPACE

IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON STOPPING IN FOR THE LEGACY / INSURANCE MEETING

Don’t bother. No one there.

Why doesn’t the person who posted the meetings on this blog, alert people the meeting is canceled.

Clubhouse security reports they knew the meeting was canceled yesterday.

What about the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 1? Is that on?

How can any perspective attendees who want to have questions answered, have any faith that the meetings will be held?

This is the second time I arranged my monthly calendar around an insurance meeting that was canceled.

The first time was an insurance committee meeting at the UCO office and I saw Diana and Mike coming out of UCO and sure enough; people were turned away, because no meeting was to be held and no cancellation notice was distributed.

I know everyone is a volunteer and it gets complicated, but perhaps not scheduling meetings, might be a better decision……

or a part-time paid insurance assistant …..a some-what like paid employee similar to Sebastian, with much less duties.

No need to be a registered insurance agent, just an administrator, because whoever is administering the program now, it isn’t working.

What am I missing here?

NOTICE OF PASSING - LANNY HOWE

-
Lanny was a good friend he is deeply missed.
-
Lawrence N. Howe, 82, died on Monday, September 16, 2019 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
He leaves his former wife Lois (Doubleday) Howe, their 4 sons, Peter and his wife Tang, Timothy and his wife Deborah, Stephen, and John, and his daughter Deborah, who sadly passed in 2012, and her husband Christos; 10 grandchildren: Stephanie, Christine, Connor, Maxwell, Katherine, Ioannis, Alexandra, Petros, Isabella, and Tedrik; 3 great grandchildren: Jaxson, Julian, and Jamison; and also his former wife Connie. He also leaves behind his brothers Raymond and his wife Beverly, Arthur and his wife Paula, and his sister Marcia, and their families.
-
“Lanny” was born on December 6th, 1936, in Dedham, MA. At just five years old, Lanny got his first job delivering three Boston newspapers, the Globe, the Herald and American, costing just 2 cents each. Throughout his teenage years he developed a life-long love for nature and outdoor living. He was a Boy Scout leader in Troop 3, Dedham, often hiking the woods, trails, hills and streams throughout New England with other scouts who have remained life-long friends. Lanny graduated with honors from Dedham High School in 1954 and went on to attend Swarthmore College. He served in the National Guard from 1960-65. On April 22nd of his freshman year at Swarthmore, Lanny became a born again Christian. He became an intense seeker of a greater understanding of Christianity, and of the living of life as one. He read widely, met with people often, and corresponded copiously with them about this lifelong commitment.
-
Lanny met his wife, Lois, at Swarthmore. They eventually settled with their young family in Stoughton, Massachusetts, where they raised their children in a setting that fulfilled his love of nature…next to a quiet pond and a forest. As a young man, he began working for AAA, where he continued for over 25 years as a manager at offices in Boston and Newton. He later worked as a writer and editor for a small Christian magazine called The Intercessor.
-
In the early 1990’s, Lanny moved to Florida. He married Connie, and remained married to her for 10 years. He eventually settled in the senior community of Century Village in West Palm Beach. He became enthusiastically involved in this community he grew to love, and contributed much of his time working at the Village newspaper, as president of his association, and helping others whenever possible. Many of his neighbors have told moving stories of how he helped them out in tough circumstances. He still missed his New England roots, and often came north in the fall to visit with family and friends, and to reconnect with the land.
-
Throughout his life, Lanny was an avid reader with wide interests, especially in historically accurate accounts. He found joy in writing, often injecting a wry sense of humor enjoyed by all. His letters and poems will long be treasured by those he left behind. Visitation hours will be Tuesday September 24, 2019 from 4-7:30pm with a funeral service to follow at 7:30pm in the Funeral Home. Burial with United States Army Military Honors will be held Wednesday at 11am in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
