Bylaws, Bylaws, Bylaws!

At Friday’s Delegate Assembly, delegates will vote on whether to adopt the 117-summer quorum for all meetings throughout the year. Delegates have the final say!

Today copies of the February UCO Reporter are being delivered to your association. The paper contains an insert with proposed bylaw amendments in draft form. These changes affect the way UCO is governed and they matter to all of us. Please read them carefully and hold on to the insert. Bring it to the town halls starting in March where your questions and opinions are welcome and will be heard. First town hall is March 14 at 1:30 p.m. in Meeting Room C in the clubhouse. Refreshments will be served.

Comcast: service outage for Internet has been reported in the Village

-
It seems that there is a major problem with Comcast Internet in West Palm since yesterday. For exemple Coventry A is Off. Dorchester D came back at 5AM. Comcast told me that it should come back at 11AM. But they were saying 1PM, 5PM 1AM yesterday… They told me that there fiber was cut in many places. Nothing in the news but

3.Wait for "VIEW MY CHANNEL LINEUP"
4.Start scrolling and scrolling and scrolling.

*: The $29 may go up $1.25/yr. for each of the remaining 9 years of the agreement.

Compare to various other Cable TV providers. (All quotes from their websites.)

Atlantic Broadband: "MORE TV 240+ Channel Details Includes: Digital Adapter $74.99 /mo for 6 months. Price increases by $20/mo for months 25-36, and an additional $20 for months 37 - 48. Price
reverts to then current applicable retail rate in month 49."

Comcast: "After term agreement, or if any service is cancelled or downgraded, regular rates apply. Comcast's monthly service charge for Digital Economy Package is $39.95 (subject to change).
Service limited to a single outlet."

AT&T: "After 12 mos. or loss of eligibility, then prevailing rate applies (currently $81/mo for SELECT All Included"

Verizon: "Custom TV $64.99 /mo. Promo rates via bill credits and increase after promo period. $12/mo."

To sum up:

(1) CV'ers are paying far less for far more channels. A great deal.
(2) As shown above, individual rates jump at least $10 - $20 per month:
(3) Our rates may increase no more than $1.25/month each year for the next 9 years.

COMCAST CANCELLATION

Note to those who have individual Comcast contracts (i.e.: you receive individual billings for optional services not covered by the bulk agreement): If you cancel your Comcast personal subscription, in addition to returning Comcast equipment, be sure to also cancel your personal service contract . An Xfinity store can cancel your add-on service contract; a UPS store cannot. Don't forget to get a receipt or reference number covering the entire transaction.
Dropping AT&T for AB?: same cautionary advice: Cancel the service as well as returning the equipment.

ON THE NEW DUMPSTER RULES

The dumpster rules have changed—have you heard?
Either that or we misunderstood them.
You can use any dumpster—that's now the CAM's word—
But construction debris—neither in nor around them.

This means that though once your vigilante committee
Could keep the neighbors at bay,
The rules have been checked (and though it's a pity),
O'er the neighbors you now have no say.

But if following the builders' trucks through the Village
Should appeal to you as sport,
With an eye to reporting illegal spillage,
Why, report what they abort.

JUST DON'T GET IN ANY FIGHTS.

Bylaws on Investigations

Proposed UCO bylaws that delegates will be voting on in the next few months say, "Investigations Committee. This committee shall be responsible for the investigation of prospective purchasers, residents, companions and tenants who apply to occupy a unit in Century Village. The committee shall prepare application forms for use throughout the Village. The Investigations Committee may accept only the current statutorily set investigation fee for providing these services." If the bylaw passes, it just codifies what happens now: the committee manages the process and the Association Board makes the decision.

Watch for notices of Town Halls to discuss all the proposed UCO bylaws and please join us.
