SOLOMON & KARPF SUMMONS & COMPLAINT - SUTOFSKY SAYS -"THIS IS WHAT INSURANCE IS FOR"

-
Hi all,
-
Well, the Summons and Complaint regarding the frivolous $5,000,000.00 law suit has arrived, and as promised, here are links to these unconstrained fantasies of financial dreams; there are two distinct documents, one against UCO, and the other against UCO and David Israel. Simply incredible:
-
-

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8WHEjvkxk1QSHZ1VFBVMXlPMFk/edit?usp=sharing
-
Ok! my opponent looks backwards and complains about paving and drainage, this is because she has NO record of accomplishments in service to UCO. No service on Committees or the Executive Board.

I look forward to great accomplishments to come, where do you want to go??

She and her supporters seem to think that Insurance payments are free money, this is not the case, as we may find out when we attempt to renew our coverage in the wake of this claim.

Return Dave Israel and my slate to Office on March 7, 2014.

CANDIDATE SUTOFSKY APPEARS TO SUPPORT SOLOMON & KARPF LAWSUIT - "THAT IS WHAT INSURANCE IS FOR"

-
At the Candidates Forum, Esther Sutofsky was asked what was her position on the S & K law suits totaling $5,392,000.00. She refused to answer, nor to indicate, how if elected, she would deal with this existential threat to UCO!
-
on another Internet site, she responded as follows:
"UCO is insured. That is what insurance is for and a raise in rates will be pennies on the bill per resident."
-
This concept that insurance is free money, is ethically shaky and in fact in this case is not accurate. Should these frivolous law suits be awarded the fantastic sums sought, it is likely that UCO would be deemed un-insurable; and thus would cease to exist.
-
Ms. Sutofsky, who appears to support this law suit, or at least will not disavow it, does not deserve your vote; nor does Mr. Karpf a co plaintiff in both law suits who has the chutzpah to run for Executive Board.
-
Send both these candidates the right message on March 7, 2014 - do not reward their behavior with your votes!

Pothole Repair

This afternoon, a PBC road repair crew was filling potholes on the Okeechobee Blvd service road. I would have taken a picture, but I am scared of steamrollers.

Thank you Commissioner Burdick, and thank you Marc for getting the thing started.

VOTE HOWARD O’BRIEN FOR UCO TREASURER

The position of UCO treasurer is a very important one. We need a person with proven financial skills and experience, plus a person who, without compromising any financial principles, will be a UCO team player.

Both candidates for treasurer in this election are CPAs, and I think that is a step in the right direction. With a CPA we are getting a professional. I am planning to vote for Howard O’Brien myself. He has impeccable credentials and says in his bio in the March Reporter: “I will work with the UCO team and the outside accountants to have the best system of financial reporting and internal control.” Read his bio. It’s impressive. It was Howard, as vice president of Sussex C, who discovered fraud in their finances, which was reported in the Palm Beach Post.

I am aware, of course, that Esther Sutofsky promotes the other candidate for treasurer on Olga’s “My Village Blogger” blog. That is to be expected. But I would daresay from the following, quoted from what Esther herself said on December 24, 2013 on Olga’s blog, that she nonetheless thinks well of Howard O’Brien:

This morning, in answer to politely but incisively asked questions by Howard O'Brian [sic], a candidate for Treasurer in the upcoming election, they snapped at him for telling the truth and basically called him out as having a made up mind - ergo, a wrongly made up mind. This, to a man who does not partake in fights and succeeded in uncovering embezzlement at his Association and now willing to serve his community, the Village.”

Who the “they” refers to in this post is or the issue at hand, I do not know, but it seems clear Howard is being DEFENDED.

Dave Israel recommends Howard O’Brien. I hope that the delegates will see fit to elect him on March 7 as our new treasurer.

UCO REPORTER - MARCH 2014 - LIVE IN CYBERSPACE

PBSO ALERT - MAJOR SENIOR CITIZEN PHONE SCAM - PBSO BULLETIN

Office of the Attorney General of Florida banner

-

******** PBSO Elderly Crime alert *******-
May we enlist your assistance in getting the word out to a number of people who have been financially exploited – predominantly our elder citizens.
-
The Attorney General’s Office recently settled a case involving unauthorized charges to landline [home versus cell] CenturyLink telephone bills. Seniors were among those charged. In fact, we know of more than 1200 elders aged 80-99 years old who were charged. In many instances, consumers do not even know their telephone bills were charged. Consumers were often billed for months to years without their knowledge or consent. Claims may amount to $2.3 million; the average refund is estimated to amount to $134 and may be as high as $700.
-
Claim forms were mailed to 17,276 people, but the fear is that these victims will be reluctant to file the claim and not understand how they were victimized and that they could financially recover some of their loss.
-
Would you please go to the link below for further details and then reach out to your community (and maybe even your own relatives) to alert them to this scam. Some suggested target sites to notify might be:
-
Assisted Living Facilities, Churches, Community Centers, Community news outlets, Home Health Care professionals – those who would have contact with the elderly who have or had landlines.
-
Consumers will need to file claims by April 12, 2014
-
We appreciate your help and would be interested in your input and knowing the groups you reached out to. If you have any questions, please go to this site:

WHAT A SILLY ARGUMENT

Referring to an article I wrote for the UCO Reporter about the NSA, Olga Wolkenstein claims that Dave Israel depends on computers while Esther Sutofsky depends on mind, ability and instinct. She gives as an example on her blog an instance where a GPS failed to guide a motorist out of a predicament, but where simple observation succeeded.

What silly reasoning. The article was about the NSA and how, aided by computers that sift through Intel, this agency protects the US. Is Olga saying that Esther, brilliant though she might be, could protect the country better with her own “mind, ability and instinct” than the NSA can in using its computers?

No, not exactly, I am sure. I certainly hope not anyway for the sake of our country!

General Colin Powell is an expert car mechanic. Does that mean that’s all he knows about? I don’t think so. President Jimmy Carter is an expert peanut farmer. Does that mean he knows nothing about being the commander of a nuclear submarine, being governor of a state or being US president? Again, I don’t think so. Ronald Reagan was an actor. Does that mean….. Well, I think perhaps we get the point. Dave also has mind, ability and instinct; and IN ADDITION he knows computers and has a great deal of UCO EXPERIENCE.

MYRON SOLOMON & JERRY KARPF FILE SECOND LAW SUIT AGAINST UCO & DAVE ISRAEL

-
Hi all
-
UCO has this day been advised of yet another Law Suit filing by Myron Solomon and Jerry Karpf.
Rumor has it that they now seek some $5,000,000.00.
-
The Summons and Complaint has yet to arrive, but the filing on February 19, 2014 may be seen at the Clerk of Court site by following the link:
-
-
I have also placed this link in the sidebar for ready reference.
-
When the Summons and Complaint is served, I shall of course publish it for all to see.
-
Considering that Mr. Karpf is running for Office, one cannot help but speculate as to the connection between this second law suit and the election campaign now in progress; how desperate can they get

ACCOMPLISHMENTS VS THE BIG LIE - YOU DECIDE MARCH 7, 2014

-
My opponent and her supporters, whose stock in trade consist of suing UCO and disrupting meetings, call me names. They accuse me of various concocted crimes which when taken together are outrageous. Why; because they have no record upon which to claim accomplishment. My opponent believes she can walk in, a tabula rasa of non service on any committee. Until declaring her Candidacy, she attended no UCO meetings, so she arrives in the public forum devoid of any service to our Village.
-
The following brochure capsulizes my track record in life and in CV - so my fellow unit owners, you decide; who do you want to lead UCO forward in the next two years:

VOTE JOY VESTAL FOR UCO VICE PRESIDENT

It surprised me when Joy Vestal announced her candidacy for UCO Vice President, and I think she is a great choice. She and Myron Silverman have done a great job coediting the UCO Reporter. What they have produced is there for all to see, and the compliments have been many.

Now, in addition to her Reporter experience with the Village goings-on, she has the experience of having been in very close touch with UCO affairs by having been an active UCO Recording Secretary. She is well qualified to be a UCO vice president, in my opinion.

The naysayers can say what they want––I have seen Joy at work on the newspaper, and no one is more conscientious about keeping the right divide between the paper and UCO. Where did she learn this? I expect from her innate sense of fair play, but also from her 50 years of administrative experience working for Newsday, the sixth largest regional newspaper in the US, covering NYC, Queens and Long Island. When a person by nature keeps the right balance, you don’t always need written rules.

I only hope Joy has the energy and good health to do both jobs. For sure she will bring her expertise, conscientiousness and enthusiasm to them both.

Vote Joy Vestal for UCO VP on March 7!

THE GOVERNMENT YOU GET IS THE GOVERNMENT YOU DESERVE - VOTE DAVE ISRAEL FOR PRESIDENT

-
The final slate for the UCO election in March has been published in this BLOG, A synopsis of my work has also been published - now a few issues arise.
-
I am going to ask you, Delegates all, to return me to Office, I ask this in consideration of four years of solid accomplishments, and promise of more results to come.
-
A key request, is to elect a slate of Officers and Executive Board members who will work with me as President to bring great accomplishments to our Village. Following is my slate of nominees that I would like you to elect to office; in short they have my full endorsement.
-
DAVE ISRAEL'S  SLATE FOR 2014 ELECTION TO OFFICE

PRESIDENT
 David Israel
-
VICE PRESIDENT
     Robert Marshall,
Joy Vestal
   -
CORRESPONDING SEC'Y
   Pat Sealander

RECORDING SEC'Y
     Phyllis Siegelman

TREASURER
  Howard O'Brien

EXECUTIVE BOARD
Roberta Boehm-Fromkin,  Ruth Bernhard-Dreiss,   Ken Davis,  George Franklin, David Givens,  Dominic Guarnagia,  Antoinette Salometo,  David Saxon, Lori Torres, Jean Komis.

Vote in these folks who come to office to serve, not in opportunistic search of power. It is clear, that Ms. Sutofsky is attempting to pack the Executive Board with obstructive people in order to prevent any forward movement on my programs. Don't let her succeed in this plan.
-
Finally, who should not be elected under any circumstances, and why:
-
1) Esther Sutofsky..... No Experience on Committees or any other organ of UCO Government. Zero record of service to our Village, an opportunist seeking power, not service.
-
2) Jerry Karpf..... Jerry is suing UCO, seeking your Email addresses and $5,392,000.00  dollars. why would you vote for someone who is suing you??
-
3) Ed Grossman..... Principally known for disrupting our Delegate Assembly meetings and other meetings.  Ed has no record of service to our Village, only a record of disruption. Why would anyone nominate such a person, or vote for him.??
-
4) Olga Wolkenstein..... Like Mr. Grossman, Olga is famous for disruption of the Delegate Assembly and other UCO meetings. In my opinion, she would be naught but a disruptive presence in UCO. She also has no significant record of service to our Village.

MOMENTOUS DAY AT CENTURY VILLAGE

It is a momentous day here at C.V. Today is the first day I witnessed a pile of dog feces along the pathway. I would like to personally acknowledge the irresponsible pet owner who left the mess and the others who use our common areas for their pets to relieve themselves and not clean up. Way to go folks! It gets better here by the day. More rules!! Less compliance!! No problem!!
..............................................
Your Blogmeister responds:

The final solution to the dog poop problem. Now, will the Delegates vote for it?

Dave Israel

Need proof that the rich really aren’t that different from you and me? How’s this — they don’t pick up their dog’s poop when they think no one is looking, either. No, not even when they’re only walking their dog on the turf at their luxury condo. That’s why a condo community in Florida is making residents enter their dog’s DNA into a new genetic database that will be used to match a poop to a pooch and identify which owners aren’t cleaning up after their pets.Which is really nice to hear, because you know once resources start being devoted to things like this, we’ve clearly solved the big problems like world hunger, and can now put science to work on the really important issues of our age.
Orlando’s Vue condos are pretty swanky places to live, with just one problem — some thoughtless resident apparently believes that living in the lap of luxury makes them too good to clean up their dog’s leavings, deposited on a patch of turf provided by the condo for just this purpose. Fellow residents tried installing cameras to catch the pooping perp, but to no avail. So instead of hiring a team of ninjas to keep watch over what is essentially the world’s smallest, grossest indoor park, the condo association leapt directly to the next most crazy option available to them — mandatory genetic tagging of all canine residents.
As of next month, all dog owners in the condo complex will be required to submit a sample of their pup’s DNA from an oral swab to the condo association. The samples will be used by Tennessee-based company PooPrints to create a DNA database of all dogs in the condo so that future unscooped poops can be identified and those responsible shamed in the traditional fashion — having their nosed rubbed in the resulting mess to a chorus of loud, low pitched recriminations from their neighbors.
It’s appropriate at this point to thank Florida, which we give some flack around here, for demonstrating what is clearly the best way to use science, and definitely the exact manner in which Watson and Crick imagined their work on the chemical coding of life itself being used by future generations. (Rosalind Franklin probably wanted to see it used for the betterment of humanity, a point of view that will get you screwed right out of a Nobel Prize.)

ON EXAGGERATION AND MISINFORMATION

When I read the daily newspaper, I am usually reading things about which I have no personal knowledge. About twenty times in my life, however, I have had firsthand knowledge of the subject, sometimes from having been myself involved. EVERY TIME when this has been the case, the newspapers have unfailingly got one, two or more significant facts wrong.

If this is their track record on things I know about firsthand, I wonder how good their reporting is on all the other things I don’t know about? By extrapolation I expect it’s appalling. This makes me extremely distrustful of the daily news. The weekly news reports do a little better, I think.

Now I turn to the “other blog,” where charges fly left and right, and all kinds of things are set forth as “facts” about Dave Israel, Ed Black, Bob Marshall, et al. Where backroom deals, mismanaging the money, and other nefarious activities are presented as “researched” and “the final word” by those who have every reason to not be truly neutral or intellectually honest. And what do I find? I find some things said about myself: I am Dave's campaign manager, for example—laughable to me, but a thing I have personal knowledge about and know to be wrong (to be, in fact, complete hogwash).

I know how take my cue, just as in whether to give total credence to the daily newspapers. If on the other blog they are that wrong about me (whom I know about), they are surely wrong about a whole lot else! Whether they are purposely lying, I will not judge. But it surely seems to me they are guessing—wildly guessing in some instances—perhaps hoping some of their guesses hit the mark, but caring only that people believe their irresponsible, reckless charges. “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing” has seldom been more applicable.

A LOST OPPORTUNITY FOR THE 5K RUN.

The upcoming 5K run has lost a great opportunity to really make a difference, all thanks to a few closed minded people. I am speaking of an association that I am personally involved with that was originally invited to participate and was later asked not to.
I am Speaking of The Combat Veterans Association. We were originally asked to take lead on this run. Our groups mission is Vets Helping Vets. We will do various things like riding our motorcycles in support of Veterans causes. Raising money to help Vets and their families and providing assistance when needed.
A good example would be a vet we call Spence. He had a horrific accident vs. a semi. He was in a coma, awoke and when ready to go home, we assisted in making his home handicap accessible, assisted his family to put up Christmas decorations for his homecoming, got him a hospital bed and escorted his homecoming.
We are currently raising money to assist with his medical bills, gave him an electric wheelchair. The latter coming out of my own pocket.
In shunning this fine organization, the run lost out on as much as a thousand dollars in donations.
Shame to you closed and little minded people that didn't want motorcycles or as I heard it put, "a motorcycle gang" involved in such a good cause.
The Combat Veterans Association is a legitimate not for profit group of Veterans and their families that HELP Vets. I am disgusted at this and although I do not blame it's organizers nor WPRF, I have asked to be removed from the assignment of photographing and writing the story for the Reporter and was initially denied. The story has been reassigned now, and now I choose to completely boycott the event. It is shameful that this is an event for Vets, and Vets were left out because of a few ignorant BIG MOUTHS.
My apologies to it's organizers as this is not meant to be a reflection of their fine work, but for me, I choose to remain distant from the stupidity and prejudice of the naysayers. Good luck.

Spence, coming home after 5-6 months in the hospital escorted by The Combat Veterans Association, now faces amputation of one of his legs. CVA is raising funds to help his family.  VETS HELPING VETS.

"GOOD NEIGHBOR" TEMPORARY FENCE - POSSIBLE CODE VIOLATIONS - Q & A

-
A number of questions developed by the Proactive Residents Projects Committee (PRPC) were presented to Paulette Burdick, our County Commissioner. The answers are presented below from the PBC Chief of Code Enforcement:
-
1.      What is the current status of the fence?

ANSWER:            The fence permit was inspected and approved in July 2013 and issued a Certificate of Completion (for a temporary construction fence). Per Section 108.1 of the FBC Amendments, temporary uses are permitted for 6 months, and extensions can be granted for reasonable justification. In this case the time is up, but the owner has requested an extension citing litigation in progress from allowing the project to move forward. My response is currently in legal undergoing review since we are involved in the litigation, but the request is ultimately going to be approved.

2.      Is the current fence a temporary or permanent fence?
ANSWER:    It is a temporary construction / development fence

3.     What is the difference between a temporary and permanent fence?

ANSWER:  Temporary fences will typically have a wire at the top instead of a rail, and have no wire at the bottom. Temporary fences do not have to meet the County ULDC, which will require either an ornamental fence or landscape buffering. This fence has neither and could not be approved as a permanent fence as it exists today

4.     Can we require the developer to use a “weed whacker” along the fence line and around the fence poles?

ANSWER:  Yes we can and will ask them to start doing so

5.     Has there been any fines for the developer’s failure to keep the grass cut?

ANSWER:  There have been in the past but nothing recent. If they fail to keep it cut according to the code we will cite accordingly.

Thank you,

Peyton McArthur
             Senior Aide to
Vice Mayor Paulette Burdick
.........................................................................................
Thanks to the PRPC for their eternal vigilance, and thanks to our County Commissioner for getting us answers.
