AREA AGENCY ON AGING - DISASTER RECOVERY SERVICES - LIVE IN CYBERSPACE

WILL TAKING IDS WHEN GIVING OUT VOTING CLICKERS WORK?

I just heard that when giving out the new voting clickers to delegates, those at the Delegate Assembly registration tables will be taking delegates' Century Village ID cards in order to ensure return of the clickers before delegates leave the Clubhouse. Is this right?

If this works well, I will be surprised. To begin with, delegates get talking on their way out. They leave by different doors, and there is likely to be a rush for the restrooms. I can imagine many delegates forgetting to turn in their clickers AND forgetting they have surrendered their IDs. I can also imagine the mixups that might occur with two hundred clickers having been collected at the registration tables: "Jack Roberts? Hmmm. No. Let's see, we have a John Rupert.... But he came by and got his ID, didn't he, Helen?"

I hope I'm wrong.

Comcast Rep for the Village

I believe the village has a rep from Comcast that we can go to if we have a problem.  If I am correct can someone please supply his name and contact number as well as email address.  Failing that, does
anyone have the name and contact info for someone "high-up" at Comcast who is located in the States.  Thanks in advance.

Peking Duck?

Maybe we should have signs like this around the village. They are again becoming a problem. I wonder if people will ever get the hint, that feeding the ducks cause more problems than not.
Yeah, it's nice to feel like you're back on the farm feeding your livestock, but fact of the matter is, They probably never had a farm nor lived in one and the closest they came to one was feeding the pigeons in the park while sitting on the bench.
Feeding ducks bread hurts them more than helps.  Having them gathering behind the homes of the feeders is causing possible heath hazards to others, as well as making people walk through Duck crap on the perimeter walkways. Someone has started placing food in the middle of the walkways so you have no choice but step through the duck crap. If people would walk their dogs and let them crap all over the walkways and not pick up after them,, everyone would be up in arms. Some would be up in arms even if they pick up after the dogs, which as long as they pick up after them they have nothing to complain about but still do. But do they say anything about the ducks?
Maybe every dog owner in the village should walk their dogs near the homes of these Feeder and not pick up after, then maybe the neighbors would curb their neighbors feedings. Just sayin'...
It cost us fifty bucks a bird to relocate them... I would think we give them $50 and they have freezers full of Peking duck at least once or twice a week.

AMAZON SAYS DO NOT USE ECLIPSE GLASSES PREVIOUSLY RECOMMENDED

In my August Reporter article on viewing the August 21 solar eclipse and again in a blog post, I quoted information I had read that dark glasses for  viewing the eclipse of the sun should be safe if they were CE-ISO certified with an "ISO 12312-2" or an "ISO 12312-2:2015" marking. NOT NECESSARILY SO, now says Amazon.com.

I ordered sets of eight, five and four such pairs of glasses for relatives and friends, and now, one by one, Amazon has sent me warnings to not use them. This applies to looking at the sun at ANY time. The glasses I ordered were manufactured by different companies but ordered from Amazon, and all had BOTH of the above certifications. Amazon is giving me a credit for these purchases and says I do not need to return the merchandise.

This is a bummer for those wanting a convenient way to watch the partial eclipse, but there are other ways one can safely view it. One is the "pinhole" method described in my article (just do it right). Another is using a fully developed film negative to look through, but you need to know how to do this. There are other methods as well.

I wonder how many millions of these "questionable" glasses have been sold and how many people are going to be very inconvenienced. Some have made plans to travel long distances to see "totality." During the 2+ minutes of totality, they say it is safe to look without eye protection, but ONLY then and not at all before or after, when the slightest bit of the sun can be seen. We won't see totality here.

CV REAL ESTATE BUILDING - APPRAISED VALUE CONFIRMED AS ZERO - AUGUST 5, 2017

A Plymouth V delegate, I attended the delegate meeting yesterday (8/4/17), at which a rather vehement disagreement about the value of the CV Real Estate Building and grounds erupted. To undergird further discussion, I am posting the PBCounty Appraiser's evaluation, as downloaded today, 8/5/17) of both the Real Estate Building (2729 East Drive) and the Cenvill Storage Building and grounds(5400 Fairway Street). The detailed appraisals are lengthy, but I can summarize them: They are exactly as shown in the United Civic Organization Agenda handout the delegates received when we registered.

DELEGATE ASSEMBLY - AUGUST 4, 2017 - LIVE IN CYBERSPACE

-
Don't miss the Malcontents effort to incite the Assembly to near riot state. Much misinformation was delivered in their attempt to crash the building swap. Don't miss Mr. Grossman charging up on stage, all in all a disgusting display! Exactly as I predicted.
-
Delegates, please do not let these meeting disrupters lose this opportunity for our Residents

VOTE YES TO SWAP TITLES OF THE CV REAL ESTATE WITH THE CENVILL STORAGE FACILITY

-
The people who publish nasty lies about UCO on the Internet, the people who are suing UCO and their neighbors, the people who disrupt our Delegate Assembly monthly are working very hard to crash the UCO effort to accomplish the swap of the CV Realty building for the Cenvill utility building.
-
The CV Realty building, an old temporary wooden structure, is in very bad condition, and it is in need of major repair. This would cost upwards of $200,000.00. UCO does not have the budget for this project, Cenvill does, and if the Delegates vote for the Title swap, they will raze the decaying structure, and bring CV Realty to new condition, no longer an eyesore on our Perimeter road.
-
The Cenvill utility building on the other hand is a solid concrete block structure, which Cenvill will bring up to full Office building code, and then quit claim it to UCO. The building will be the final home of the UCO Reporter, and may also generate some income, up to $1,200.00 per month from Atlantic Broadband, during the rollout of the new Cable and Internet projects.
-
So, what is the downside of this planned swap?
-
1) No cost to UCO/unit owners
2) Beautiful new structures for both parties
3) Nominal income to UCO to help offset unit owner costs.
-
There is no downside!
-
Delegates, ignore the Fake-News being generated by the Messenger Club, Vote yes at Delegate Assembly on the initiative to swap buildings.
