WILL TAKING IDS WHEN GIVING OUT VOTING CLICKERS WORK?

I just heard that when giving out the new voting clickers to delegates, those at the Delegate Assembly registration tables will be taking delegates' Century Village ID cards in order to ensure return of the clickers before delegates leave the Clubhouse. Is this right?

If this works well, I will be surprised. To begin with, delegates get talking on their way out. They leave by different doors, and there is likely to be a rush for the restrooms. I can imagine many delegates forgetting to turn in their clickers AND forgetting they have surrendered their IDs. I can also imagine the mixups that might occur with two hundred clickers having been collected at the registration tables: "Jack Roberts? Hmmm. No. Let's see, we have a John Rupert.... But he came by and got his ID, didn't he, Helen?"

I hope I'm wrong.

  1. Hi Lanny,
Well, we tried it this morning at Delegate Assembly, and it worked just fine. In the return of the clickers phase, one ID was switched for another - the two names differed by one letter. The IDs have been returned to their correct owners.

Eva Rachesky, CENREC VP and Rec. Facility manager offered to replace any ID lost in the process, free of charge.

By the way, the motion to swap the buildings passed.

  2. Thanks, Dave. I didn't attend DA this morning. I just read about passage of the swap deal (glad to hear it passed). Passing by two-to-one margin suggests to me that voting members are sick and tired of those who try by one means or another to block everything you and the UCO administration propose. I am not saying the opposition doesn't sometimes make valid points. I think they sometimes do. But they get so lost amid their negativity about EVERYTHING, it is wearying. I skim-read the latest issue of the Messenger. Was there ANYTHING uncritical in it?

I am happily surprised to learn there was minimal mixup in delegates having to surrender their clickers. That was negative ME thinking that! With reminders to the folk about turning in their clickers, this should only go more smoothly in time to come.
