FLORIDA TO START REOPENING

From the CNN (and probably others) broadcast, 4/29/, 6:22

Florida will start to reopen May 4, but for now Miami-Dade and two other counties won't be included.

Palm Beach County is one of the “two other counties”.

(CNN)Florida will reopen certain businesses throughout much of the state on Monday, Gov. Ron DeSantis said.

"We will get Florida back on its feet by using an approach that is safe, smart, and step by step," DeSantis said on Wednesday.
DeSantis said restaurants and retail spaces could let customers inside, but only at 25% capacity, and people must adhere to social distancing guidelines from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Restaurants can offer outdoor seating if tables are 6 feet apart.
"Outdoor transmission, as far as we've seen, has been more difficult than the indoor climate controlled transition," the governor said, adding that medical officials recommended the outdoor seating change.
Movie theaters can't reopen yet. The governor said it wouldn't be prudent, and it would be difficult to maintain social distancing. Bars, fitness centers and places that offer personal services, likes hair styling, also will open later.
People can schedule non-urgent surgeries again, he said, though it depends on a hospital's ability to handle surges in cases and availability of protective equipment.
DeSantis said the new measures he announced would not include three of the counties hit hardest by coronavirus. They are Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, which account for about 6.2 million of Florida's residents, according to US Census data.

UCO REPORTER - MAY EDITION 2020

Re: Alan Ehrlich email

The highly personal attack on David Israel is totally uncalled for. Obviously the majority of Century Village believe him to be a highly competent President for UCO. Otherwise they would not keep re-electing him.
I do not know you Mr. Ehrlich, nor have I ever heard your name. I can only assume that you are not a UCO volunteer. Pardon me if I am wrong, however, I would suggest that you get out from behind the curtains and jump on the stage and join the dedicated volunteers of UCO rather than just complain about any shortcomings that you perceive.
I would suggest you volunteer for some committees, run for office at the next election, become a delegate for your association or get involved with one of the many other programs i.e. Honor Flight or the 5K Run.
It's easy to criticize when you only know one side of a story/situation. Come out from behind the curtains sir.

AN EMAIL FROM A WELL WISHER

-
One of the "joys" of being UCO President, is the rare occasional hate mail received from a Resident. Here is the latest example:
-

to me

David:
It has come to my attention that the UCO auditor has resigned. Reason, they can't get the information to do their job. That is really sad. Evidently,  your ego to be a dictator of Century Village has taken another negative step.
Are looking to have your legacy in Century Village as the person that ruined UCO and ended up causing the hurt of so many? If not, take your head out of your ass and start to work with other people for the betterment of the community.
You failed as a leader of Greenbrier and residents of the 3 buildings laugh when your name comes up. People talk about you and your friend Phyllis as the two that had no idea what the heck they were doing. Is that how you want to be remembered as the President of UCO? As I see it, you have two choices. First is to become a team player and work to improve UCO. Second is to just resign and rot in your condo. There is a third  option that would be a disgrace for you. That is for the powers to be to move to have you removed from office. Personally,  that's what I would like to see. I'd love to see you removed and disgraced. Laughed at when you walk with you head down, almost hanging on that overgrown stomach that protrudes when you wobble across the parking lot to your car.
Well, I don't know about you, but I really feel great now!
Alan Ehrlich

"EXTRA STEP" REMOVED TO RECEIVE STIMULUS CHECK

Treasury backs off requirement that Social Security recipients, others take extra step to get $1,200 checks
-
USA TODAY
Michael Collins, USA TODAY
,USA TODAY•April 2, 2020
-
WASHINGTON – Facing stiff criticism, the Treasury Department abruptly changed course late Wednesday and announced that Social Security beneficiaries and other Americans who haven’t filed income taxes for the past two years won’t have to take any extra steps to receive one-time checks of up to $1,200 under a new economic recovery program.
-
“Social Security recipients who are not typically required to file a tax return need to take no action and will receive their payment directly to their bank account,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement.
-
Most Americans won’t have to do anything to receive a payment under the $2.2 trillion program designed to help the economy recover from the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic. The checks will be sent automatically within the next three weeks to eligible Americans who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019.
-
But the Internal Revenue Service posted a notice on its website earlier this week saying people who typically don’t file taxes would need to file a simple tax return to receive one of the payments. That would have included low-income taxpayers, senior citizens, Social Security recipients, some veterans and individuals with disabilities who are otherwise not required to file a tax return.
-
Wednesday's announcement reverses that decision. Mnuchin said the IRS will now use Social Security data to generate payments to Social Security recipients who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.  Recipients will receive these payments as a direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their benefits, he said.

MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN BRIAN MAST - COVID-19 INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE

News from Congressman Brian Mast

UPDATED GUIDANCE TO RECEIVE INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE

Ruth -
As you may know, last week, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which allocated funding to provide direct financial relief to American families as we deal with the impacts of the coronavirus.
The IRS has issued updated guidance on how to ensure that you receive your payment in a timely manner, and I wanted to share that information with you. Distribution of economic impact payments will begin in the next three weeks and will be distributed automatically, with no action required for most people.
However, some seniors, including social security recipients, and others who typically do not file returns will need to submit a simple tax return to receive the stimulus payment. Please take note: this guidance is a change in policy from what was previously announced. People who typically do not file a tax return will need to file a simple tax return to receive an economic impact payment. Low-income taxpayers, senior citizens, social security recipients, some veterans and individuals with disabilities who are otherwise not required to file a tax return will not owe tax. IRS.gov/coronavirus will soon provide information instructing people in these groups on how to file a 2019 tax return with simple, but necessary, information including their filing status, number of dependents and direct deposit bank account information.
Here are answers to other frequently asked questions that you may have:
Who is eligible for the economic impact payment?
Tax filers with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 for individuals and up to $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns will receive the full payment. For filers with income above those amounts, the payment amount is reduced by $5 for each $100 above the $75,000/$150,000 thresholds. Single filers with income exceeding $99,000 and $198,000 for joint filers with no children are not eligible. Eligible taxpayers who filed tax returns for either 2019 or 2018 will automatically receive an economic impact payment of up to $1,200 for individuals or $2,400 for married couples. Parents also receive $500 for each qualifying child.
How will the IRS know where to send my payment?
The vast majority of people do not need to take any action. The IRS will calculate and automatically send the economic impact payment to those eligible. For people who have already filed their 2019 tax returns, the IRS will use this information to calculate the payment amount. For those who have not yet filed their return for 2019, the IRS will use information from their 2018 tax filing to calculate the payment. The economic impact payment will be deposited directly into the same banking account reflected on the return filed.
The IRS does not have my direct deposit information. What can I do?
In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online, so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail.
I am not typically required to file a tax return. Can I still receive my payment?
Yes. People who typically do not file a tax return will need to file a simple tax return to receive an economic impact payment. Low-income taxpayers, senior citizens, Social Security recipients, some veterans and individuals with disabilities who are otherwise not required to file a tax return will not owe tax.
How can I file the tax return needed to receive my economic impact payment?
IRS.gov/coronavirus will soon provide information instructing people in these groups on how to file a 2019 tax return with simple, but necessary, information including their filing status, number of dependents and direct deposit bank account information.
I have not filed my tax return for 2018 or 2019. Can I still receive an economic impact payment?
Yes. The IRS urges anyone with a tax filing obligation who has not yet filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019 to file as soon as they can to receive an economic impact payment. Taxpayers should include direct deposit banking information on the return.
I need to file a tax return. How long are the economic impact payments available?
For those concerned about visiting a tax professional or local community organization in person to get help with a tax return, these economic impact payments will be available throughout the rest of 2020.
Where can I get more information?
The IRS will post all key information on IRS.gov/coronavirus as soon as it becomes available. Answers to additional questions are available here. To receive coronavirus-related breaking news alerts, you can sign up here:

WALKING PATH PROTOCOL/COURTESY

For the most part, our residents are doing a great job in "social distancing" themselves from each other as we navigate the circumference of the village. However, PLEASE do not stop directly on the overpasses. Some residents are doing so as they walk and/or bicycle. Those locations are the narrowest part of the pathway around the village. They measure somewhere around 36"-48." Obviously, we cannot maintain a "social distance" of 6'-10' without having to place oneself well into the roadway. That creates an additional danger for us. So PLEASE, stop and enjoy the view 10 feet further away. You will still have a great view of the water and you will make it safer for your neighbors. If you see someone doing this, gently remind them. I am sure they were just not thinking safety at that moment. We are all in this together and have to work together to stay safe.
