CV REAL ESTATE BUILDING - APPRAISED VALUE CONFIRMED AS ZERO - AUGUST 5, 2017

A Plymouth V delegate, I attended the delegate meeting yesterday (8/4/17), at which a rather vehement disagreement about the value of the CV Real Estate Building and grounds erupted. To undergird further discussion, I am posting the PBCounty Appraiser's evaluation, as downloaded today, 8/5/17) of both the Real Estate Building (2729 East Drive) and the Cenvill Storage Building and grounds(5400 Fairway Street). The detailed appraisals are lengthy, but I can summarize them: They are exactly as shown in the United Civic Organization Agenda handout the delegates received when we registered.

  2. My concern is what chemicals were stored in that building. I am sure that gas was there with the mowing equipment. What has leaked around the building, what was thrown out behind the building by the workers? We don't want to end up with grounds polluted by chemicals that we don't know are there. It is also off the beaten track.

Assuming there ISN'T a problem with the building by the Southamptons such as Grace suggests concerning chemicals, I think I would rather see the long-range home of the Reporter be there than where it is now, in Music Room B of the Clubhouse. Why? Because it will be easier to get to for those not able to walk far, and this includes a lot of us. The Southamptons are out in the boondocks, but one can quickly learn the way there, and one should then be able to park the car right by the new Reporter office. Music Room B is spacious and lovely, and we're fortunate to have it for an interim office, but it's a nuisance to get to. You are likely to have to park your car some distance from the Clubhouse entrance (possibly walking through the rain to get there), and then it is a long walk down a long corridor, up a flight of stairs, through a door, around a corner, through another door, and down a short corridor to get there. (Speak of mazes.) It's only slightly easier using the elevator. I strongly suspect there are far fewer people visiting the Reporter office in the Clubhouse than there were when we were at the Camden Pool, where parking was close by.

    Would I be in favor of staying in Music Classroom B until Atlantic Broadband is finished using the Southampton facility during the installation period of their cable? Yes, certainly, if it will help, and it appears it will.
