ON THE NEW DUMPSTER RULES

The dumpster rules have changed—have you heard?
Either that or we misunderstood them.
You can use any dumpster—that's now the CAM's word—
But construction debris—neither in nor around them.

This means that though once your vigilante committee
Could keep the neighbors at bay,
The rules have been checked (and though it's a pity),
O'er the neighbors you now have no say.

But if following the builders' trucks through the Village
Should appeal to you as sport,
With an eye to reporting illegal spillage,
Why, report what they abort.

JUST DON'T GET IN ANY FIGHTS.

  1. "Vigilante", "following builder's trucks": All the more reason CV needs a registration* (aka: accountability) system for any and all contracted workmen - remodelers, window replacement, painters, etc. Any work(wo)man who wishes to work in the village will (a) register at UCO, (b) pay a nominal fee (say: $10/ annually); (b) be given and sign a copy of the rules and regs regarding disposal, parking, times, etc.; (c)show a contract with an owner; (d) receive a large placard with the job site address; (e) prominently display said placard so that rovers, C.O.P.S., and vigilantes can see it. Owners will be asked to complete an evaluation of that worker for a file at UCO. Not only will CV residents be able to keep tabs on who is working where, but workmen themselves will be vigilant in keeping propinquitous dumpsters debris-free. And CV'er's will be able to read others' evaluations of prospective hires.
The asterisk: I do not know if UCO, or an association, can prevent an owner from hiring anyone he pleases.
    Suggestions????

  2. Read Blog part 2 for final CAM words, they are not new rules but clarified - to put a stop to residents protecting 'their' dumpster, dogs in the manger style.
