Impressive. How long does it take to create all that.
ReplyDeleteI think Ed Black spent about 9 hrs setting it up to be shown on both Channel 63 and the CV Blog. It's a tme consumming process with the equipment we have.
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteAfter Ed completes his processing, he gives me the data in digital format on a flash drive, which I upload to BLIP TV.
The upload takes 10+ hours; that is because the video consists of a 1.2GByte file, which equates to a 9.6 GBit stream (That's nine billion six hundred million bits); mind you this is after considerable data compression.
Then BLIP TV converts the data stream to Flash format (.flv); which then resides on BLIP TV servers, this takes another 3.5 hours. I then copy the HTML code from BLIP TV and embed it on the CV data BLOG.
Then I take the URL of that Post and place it as a Link on the CV BLOG.
Yes, I know, TMI; but you did ask!!

So!!! between You and Ed , It takes about 21 hours. Amazing, I'd say better equipment is required, not many people will spend that kind of time,just so CVers can see the delegate meeting.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike,
ReplyDeleteNovember 11, 2009 5:20 PM,
There are three principal bottlnecks;
1) Slow Computers
2) Slow ISP service
3) Primitive process
We should probably look at a husky computer with professional Media processor software. An IP (INTERNET Protocol) Camera, which could change our entire philosophy of operation, requiring no intermediate conversion step;
And a switch to Comcast extreme INTERNET service in Channel 63.
With a bit of clever work, we could be uplinking the data to BLIP TV as it is being "taped" during the Delegate Assembly.
The DSL service in the Clubhouse gives us a nominal upstream rate of 300Kbit. We must move data upstream much faster. Comcast can provide us with a nominal upstream rate of 2Mbit; which would be a significant improvement.
Just a few bucks a month would improve things significantly.

Hi Dave, Would you be able to put put a counter on the blog delegate meeting, to see if anyone watches it and the average length of time someone watches.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike,
ReplyDeleteNovember 11, 2009 9:39 PM,
Thus far we have put 4 Delegate Assemblies on-line. I know how many views have occurred; but not how long the viewer watched; there is no way to track that. It appears to be slowly increasing.
