DELEGATE ASSEMBLY ONLINE - TO BE OR NOT TO BE

Hi All,
Your Channel 63 team and your BLOG Administrators are in a quandry, the processing of the monthly video of the Delegate Assembly for uploading to the BLOG takes many hours of hands on effort.
Following are the viewer statistics for the past few months, since inception of the service:
..............................................................................................
Recent Episodes -->

Delegate Assembly - Dec. 04, 2009..........76 views
Delegate Assembly - Nov. 09, 2009............84 views
Delegate Assembly
- Oct. 02, 2009..........141 views
Delegate Assembly, Sept. 04, 2009..........119 views
Delegate Assembly - Aug. 07, 2009..........59 views

The question is simple; there seems to be very minimal support for this effort, should we continue it?
We would greatly appreciate your responses.

  1. I know I watch the meeting if I am unable to attend ----perhaps we should somehow publicize it more? Also encourage residents to watch channel 63---instead of walking around complaining they don't know what's going on

  2. I found it useful to go back and verify some behaviors and non-answers, probably not worth all the upload effort. I assume there would still be a video record made, just not uploaded to website.
My lazy self also appreciated the option of not going to meeting.

  3. Scrap the DA broadcast, not worth the effort for so few viewers.

  4. I know it is a lot of hard dedicated work. I was away for three months and was able to watch the meetings even with the sound sometimes very low. I certainly appreciated the effort. Thanks to all who work tirelessly to keep us informed.

  5. I have found the online version a great personal asset, as I am able to review my own presentations at the Delegate Assembly (as well as the comments and presentations of others)to improve upon my public communications skills. Thanks to all involved in this and related efforts.

  6. I sure do appreciate all the hard work that has gone into taping the meetings and getting them on Channel 63. I can see why Randall and some others would want to refer to them, and I can see why someone who hadn't been here or gone to a particular meeting might want to see the tape. A drawback, and, I would suggest, perhaps the main reason they are not watched more, is that you can't FAST FORWARD through the presentation to get at the part you're interested in. If there were the technology for us TV viewers to do this, I'll bet a lot more people would watch.

(I can't believe this old dog who can scarcely operate his DVD is actually making a suggestion for MORE modernization, but I think that's what I have just done!)

  7. Hey Lanny,
"(I can't believe this old dog who can scarcely operate his DVD is actually making a suggestion for MORE modernization, but I think that's what I have just done!)"

You may just have such technology at your own fingertips. Couldn't you record the meeting with your DVD, busy yourself, and then fast forward to the desired portion(s)? Just a thought.

  8. Hi Lanny ET-AL,
    January 2, 2010 8:35 PM,

Two points to consider, the principal reason I like the Online version is for our Seasonal Residents.

They cannot view Channel 63 from off Campus.

Secondly, you can fast forward the Online version; simply put your cursor on the little "progress dot" at the bottom of the video box and drag it as far as you like and release it.

It takes a bit of practice.

  9. When I use the progress dot with my Comcast semi-hi speed (special for CV service) it moves the same speed as playing the video, compiling, compiling ...
What do you mean 'practice' Dave, dragging dot is dragging dot!

  10. Hi Elaine.
    January 3, 2010 7:00 AM,

It is my experience that if I Left Click on the dot and, while holding the button down, drag it to another point in time and then release it; the video resumes at the new point.

Yes, there is a brief interlude in which the little time wheel spins, but it is far less than the real time gap which has been traversed.

    Practice.

  11. Hi All,

    Regarding my Comment @

Another trick that you may like better is to place the cursor anywhere in the Progress Bar and the elapsed time will be reported.

Left click at the desired time hack and the Progress dot will jump to that point and the video will resume at that point.

  12. I ate my black-eyed peas, my luck changed. It was over a week ago the videos were sluggish, now it works very well, spirits are exorcised. Thx Dave.

  13. Randall, Dave, and Elaine: I appreciate your suggestions and input on how to view a selected portion of the delegate assembly proceedings. I'll work on this.

    Thanks!
