Many believe if you eat black eyed peas and cabbage today, you will be lucky and prosperous in the New Year. The black eyed peas tradition dates back to the Civil War, when Northern troops destroyed crops and stored food in the South. Black eyed peas were considered livestock feed and 'not fit to eat' by the northern soldiers, so were left alone. This helped the South survive during major food shortages.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your black eyed peas and cabbage with some homemade cornbread. Cornbread on New Year's Day represents gold.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year!!!

Herring, I am told, is lucky for the coming year....and in cream sauce it's delicious.

Hi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and everyone else!
The picture you put up reminded me very much of a similar beach sand picture in an 18x24-inch frame I ordered from a company for my niece and her fiance, who are getting married on St. John Island in the Caribbean later this month. The beach scene and inscription is so similar, I think it must come from the same source. On hers a large heart is etched in the sand. You can have whatever short message you want put within the heart. I had them inscribe "Rob & Rebecca." They may not have received it yet, so I haven't heard how they liked it. The website contact for the company is PersonalizationMall.com.
But is it real or is it photoshop! I cropped extra smooth sand area from the original photo - no footprints, so how did they do it.
