PLEASE - FOR HAITI

All WPB fire stations will accept non-perishable food items, and clothing to aid the Haitians.
Century Village CERT is looking at ways to collect items inside the Village (stay tuned).
The JCC Pre School 3151 N. Military Trail (Opposite Publix on Community Drive) is accepting clothing this week and non-perishable food next week.

Your BLOGMEISTER notes:

Personal reconnaissance by Elaine, confirms Grace Comment; the Fire station just outside our gate is not accepting any "aid to Haiti" items.

  1. If you can do it cash is most useful. There are 2 highly recommended organizations (reputable, good practices, and plenty internet security) the International Red Cross and Medecins San Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders). Here are the links - you will need to copy and paste in the address bar:

  6. I took down my message because the information was wrong. My neighbor went to take some clothing to the firestation right outside the village and was told they were not collecting it. Today I tried and they did take the bag that I had so I am sorry for the misinformation that I posted. Maybe that firestation is a hit or miss depending who is on duty.

Second part of article mentions the clothes/food drives as problematic too.
“If you buy a can of peas and it costs 59 cents, it’ll cost about $80 to get it where it needs to go,” ...
