wear shorts to the movies?

Ushers were telling movie goers this evening that shorts cannot be worn to the movies. But, they let us in "this one time". As I remember, the rules were changed several years ago to allow shorts to be worn in both afternoon and evening movies, while "no shorts"still applies to live shows and dances. Could someone please tell us what the rules are?

    Tom,
    As far as I know other than live performances(Shows) and dances, Shorts are permitted to movies during the day or night.

    There are rules in the Clubhouse Info Packet,
    Rule # 15. When attending LIVE performances, men must wear long pants and women must wear skirts, dresses or pants below the knee.
    I'm sure ushers were trained, if they cannot remember that, then .... etc
