OPERATIONS COMMITTEE

Why would the operations committee vote to spend an ADDITIONAL $500+ a month to FPL to keep the fountains running during the day? Yes, they look nice but you really don't see the lighting colors until evening. I was at this meeting when Ms. Richland made a motion to spend this additional money(in these hard economical times) and it was seconded by Ms. Avis Blank. The other two votes were Ms. Rhea Cohen and Mr. Bob Marshall. The negative votes were Ms. Dorothy Tetro, Mr. Frank Cornish, Mr. Sal Bummulo & Ms. Jeanette Veglia, I thank you four for thinking of the village and wanting to save money and conserve electric. Mr. Israel voted for this spending and broke the tie.
I am hoping someone will reconsider this at the next meeting. As chair of transportation, we are doing our share by shutting down the busses, to SAVE money and the envirnoment. Shouldn't we all be doing our share.

  1. Hi Barbara,

I assume therefore, that the cost of additional benches to accomodate the passengers who may wish to sit in the Clubhouse waiting for the busses to depart, will be rejected by the Transportation Committee and thus by the Operations Committee!

Thanks for clarifying that point; as I was prepared to support that anticipated initiative.

As for the Fountains, they are but one component of what is known in Real Estate as curb appeal; another aspect of curb appeal is landscaping; would you recommend that we eliminate that as well? If this small measure helps to sell more units and increase their prices, it is well worth it.

  2. Hi all,
Shutting down the idling busses you say!

Why didn't the Transportation Committee do so under the previous Administration?

Please do not take credit for something that did NOT happen until Dave Israel was elected President; and do not shoot at other peoples initiatives, lest yours get shot down as well!

  3. PS:

Another aspect of Curb Appeal, are those beautiful new chairs at the pools, which cost something like 100K

How about we shut down that project as well??

  4. Two ways to look at keeping the fountains running during the day --$500+ per month, or $0.07 per unit, per month.

  5. I agree with Dave. CV is in desperate need of curb appeal, especially with the weed patch on Haverhill (the Waldman land) the first thing you see coming and going.

  6. Everytime I drive down Haverhill
Road and see what the gold course
looks like I feel like I live
in the ghetto. A few months ago
there was a meeting at the
clubhouse with Mr. & Mrs. Waldman
and the committee that is over-
    looking the golf course. What
    has happened since that meeting.
I and everyone else do not see
    any improvements. What gives.

  7. Sorry for the error.
    It should say golf course.

  8. Hi David, Lets take one comment at a time.

Sorry you felt I was taking any credit, that is far from the truth.
Mr. David Israel, YOU our new President is the ONLY ONE RESPONSIBLE for having the busses SHUT OFF! Thank You, David. As I am sure you and everyone knows Mr. Lowenstein would never do that. We are proud you took the initiative and are saving us fuel and helping the environment
Curb Appeal, guess I don't know to much about Real Estate. But, I never said the beautification should be cut. We have a beautiful village, much nicer then some of the other cv villages.
As far as the pool chairs you will have to blame VP Frank Cornish. I didn't spend that money.

I was giving MY OWN OPINION as to the operations committee. But the report on the voting was accurate. Maybe I was thinking of the bus stop by dover across from walgrens should need some curb appeal. You are doing a marvelous job David, you must know that. I just had a difference of opinion with the Operations Committee. Sorry!

  9. As far as saving money, has anyone looked into or parking lot lights and all around the clubhouse, the timer turns them on way too early, it was broad daylight and all lights were on!! If the rodent problem in the village is not adressed and taken care of by all associations effected and preventative measures taken by those not effected yet, this will have more effect on our Real Estate than fountains being shut off!!

  10. As far as saving money our great
President David Israel put a stop
that our busses will not idle
    anymore. Perhaps at the Clubhouse
they are not idling but everytime
I go to Publix at Community all
the busses are idling. Today was
the worse I have seen. It was
3:26pm when I walk into Publix
and there was one bus idling and
I looked into the bus and there
were quite a few riders in the
bus. When I entered Publix I
saw the driver sitting with his
back to his bus talking on his
    cell phone. I purposely waited
to see when he would finally
would get off his phone and go
out to his bus. It was 3:44pm
when he walked out and I told
him that he left his bus idling
for over 15 minutes and that I
will have to report him and as
I turned around to enter Publix
he said to me "it's none of your
    f...ing business.

  11. Nutmegger...I would appreciate it if you could tell me what bus you are talking about Which #..it would be extremely helpful. We will check that they don't idle that long. But since it is a fire zone they are in they can not shut down. All suggestions are welcome.

  12. Barbara

His bus was the only bus there.
I didn't see the bus number.
Perhaps you can tell by the time
he was there. I looked at all
    the people sitting outside
waiting for their bus and I
counted 10 people. I have to
tell you it is everytime I go to
    Publix the busses are idling.

  13. If I remember, and please correct me if I am in error, the buses were shut down at the Clubhouse last year during the summer months.
This is not a NEW directive as it was done under the previous Administration.

  15. Tropworld1, No the busses have always been idling for approx. 20mins per hour at the clubhouse. We did implement a summer schedule which stopped 2 busses from going to Publix(ONLY). ONLY Mr. Israel is responsible for getting the busses to be shut down while idling at the clubhouse. This was never supported by the previous admin. We hope to save fuel costs and the environment
