Hi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteWe have had very good luck with Matt (sorry, I can't find his last name), of R & B Home Appliances, phone 357-8100. He specializes in Maytag (which, by the way, took over Whirlpool a few years ago,or the other way around). He has something like 20 years' experience. If he can repair something, he will, rather than try to sell you a new machine. Bryna Stock (Sheffield K, next to us) has used him too, and last I knew was pleased with Matt. I do not know how well Matt knows non-Maytag machines. I expect he knows them well, but you should ask. Do not expect him to be able to repair with only one visit, though. He may well have to return with a part or parts, which could take a day or a week, depending on how easily obtainable they are. I've had him knock himself out to get a part for an old, workhorse of a machine for us, which is something I LIKE in a repairman. Trial and error is often part of normal trouble-shooting for a mechanic, but he should be doing that while on the job, not (with rare exceptions) leaving you to experience the trial and error after he has gone. Good luck!
Also from Sheffield K, R and B does great work.

ReplyDeleteWe own our own machines and purchased maintenance agreements from both Sears and Brandsmart's warranty service company when we purchased the machines.
