NEW POOL LOCKS

Hi all,
Having fielded a number of complaints about the new "self latching, self locking" pool locks; permit me to assure you all that UCO is in contact with WPRF and the Health Department in an attempt to solve the problem.

We are reaching out to a number of sources to help gather facts regarding your experience with the new locks.

I am well aware that a not insignificant number of our residents are being severly impacted by these new locks. We were driven by new Code requireing that these devices be self actuating; and we were concerned with potentially expensive citations from Code Enforcement officials; as this Code was passed in May 2009.

It is noted, that while the Code is specific about the parameters of the locking requirements, no specific brand is named, so alternative options will be explored.

Additionally, UCO is aware now that some of our residents are in effect being denied access to Rec. Facility pools, due to an inability to operate the locking system. We have had, also, a number of pool goers who could not let themselves out of the pool area.

Please be assured that we are working with WPRF to arrive at a solution which will meet code and also not impact residents access or egress.

Comments welcome, especially personal experience with new lock.

  1. Everybody in the residents pool, no lock gadget. Do you think there is a fence in the clubhouse future?
