NOTICE OF PASSING

Hi all,
It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of Betty Lapidus, at Good Samaritan hospice, this afternoon; July 30, 2010.

Betty served in numerous positions of responsibility in service to her Association(s) and of course to UCO. She will be missed by many.

There will be no funeral here in West Palm Beach, but rather in New York, from which she originally came to CV.

There will be a Memorial Service here in West Palm Beach at a future time to be announced

  1. You will be very much missed Betty, your indomitable spirit, and your fierce defense of Century Village, and your belief in its good. Over 27 years service to all and an example to all. It was a privilege to know you for a few months, the really lucky people have known you much longer.

  3. I was notified of Betty's passing which brought me great personal sadness. She worked with many presidents during her 15 or more years with UCO and always respected their tough position. It was my pleasure to have worked with her in UCO, as well, for that many years. She was a true professional and gave much to her community. Rest in peace, Betty.

  6. I worked with Betty for 15 years both at UCO and when she was Area President of Bedford. She always had a smile and was a wonderful person. I had the Pleasure to be invited to her 90th Birthday Celebration and it was a gala event. Betty will be missed by all who knew her & by all that knew of her.
    Rest in Peace, Bessie

  7. Betty was the quintessential volunteer for UCO. While engaged in this volunteering effort she worked for many diverse leaders, each of them elected by our due process.

Betty never spoke publicly against any of the changes made by the new leadership or created a disturbance during any meeting to show contempt for any newly implemented change with which she disagreed.

This classy volunteer “respected” the outcome of the vote that brought the new team to power and she worked inside this team for change to “support” UCO.

In the couple of decades she worked for this community she demonstrated an enormous support to the position of President and worked tirelessly to assure this community was served to the best of her ability.

Where oh where will we ever find such a loyalist who only works for the greater good, while overlooking the human flaws that we all share.

I hope that the extraordinary behavior of this beautiful and spiritual woman will inspire the rest of us to adopt her outlook, as her legacy to this community and home that she adored.

  8. I will miss her beautiful smile
    whenever we met..she never failed
    to inquire of one's situation,
    offering assistance, advice and
blessings. At this moment my memory
goes back to earlier this year,
when she received a standing ovation, by the assembled guests, at the UCO Installation Luncheon,
for her many yrs. of devotion&
    service,(regardless of whom was
    in power)her committment was to
    HER community.
    Rest in peace, dear,sweet Betty
