PERQUISITES OF OFFICE

Hi all,
Above you will see a scan in of a letter received by me at the UCO Office.
Amazingly, it is not signed, nor is there a return address; I wonder why!
-
Do any of you want to run for office in UCO; well, this is what you can expect

  1. Hi David. Sometimes it appears that this place is ungovernable. Since 1971, there have been a small (but loud) number of crazies that have made CV the butt of many jokes and comments throughout PBC. These crazies don't seem to die off, but have some sort of natural replacement going on. Very sad.

  2. Always a rotten apple in the barrel!Be nice to get rid of all the rotten ones.

  3. hmm, the genius that wrote that letter obviously doesn't want us to know who he/she is ---but sure is a whackjob ---what a pitiful and disgusting person Shall we dust the letter for prints? There is a coterie of malicious malcontents apparently running amok among us. (notice that I like alliteration?)

  4. Absolutely shocking...surely the
handwriting can be compared to a
few suspects, who no doubt have in
the past completed some UCO forms
    & are on file..

  5. WE HAVE TO ELECT YOU PRESIDENT FOR A SECOND TERM, JUST TO DRIVE SCUMBAGS LIKE THE AUTHOR OF THE LETTER CRAZY. :) Mike

  6. Hi BettieL
    August 24, 2010 2:49 PM,

Good Point, When the PBSO deputies are next here, I will run this letter past them.

I do not know if the implied threat level is enough to trigger law enforcement action.

  7. In any large group there are crazies. Good to see the crazy letter put out into the open. There is nothing like a dose of sunshine to clear up all kinds of slime.

  8. David:

    This person threatened you by
saying "if you don't resign you
    will be exposed." Great! The
good people of CV do not want you
to resign so then let the bitch/
bastard post all the wicked things
you are being accused of which will
be all lies and then we can cast stones at this wicked person.

  9. Nutmegger,
He who is without sin should cast the first stone.

  10. As much as I don't like to read such garbage on our Blog David, I think you are doing the right thing by throwing it back in their face. I think you/we should hire a private investigator to find out who this hateful person is and get them out of the village. This kind of hate should not be tolerated.

  11. Hi Mollie,
    August 24, 2010 5:12 PM,

I really like the idea of going thru UCO holdings to see if we can find a handwriting match.

Let's see what the Sheriff's office has to say, but I suspect even if you could find the source, it would be a civil matter.

Meanwhile, perhaps Elaine can have a shot at finding a matching sample.

  12. I just went online to get election news from the Palm Beach Post. The lead article, "Election Officials fear rain may discourage late voters...," by three staff writers, was followed by readers' comments.

What interested me was the statement at the end by Tim Burke, Executive Editor of the Post:

"We'd like your thoughts on this story. I appreciate your willingness to share them. At PalmBeachPost.com, we want to avoid comments that are obscene, hateful, racist or otherwise inappropriate. If you post offensive comments, we will delete them as soon as we can. If you see such comments, please report them to us."

This is what the Palm Beach Post does. Why should we do less?

Of course the Post has its detractors just as we and other media outlets do. One of the comments preceding this editorial statement was the following:

"The Palm Beach Post will delete all comments that are not in line with their views or endorsements.
    Tim Burke has an agenda.
    10:39 AM, 8/24/2010"

The Post could have deleted THIS, but like our generous, good-hearted UCO president, it didn't.

  13. Dear David, I applaud you for putting this letter on the blog.
I am PROUD that you are our President. There are hateful people it seems that will go to any lengths to try to get you out of office.

  14. David,
As the recipient of many threats myself in the past, I would urge you to turn this over to the police without delay.
You were absolutely right to put it on the blog, not only as a deterrent to the similar inclined but as an illustration to ALL blog followers what downright evil some people here in Century Village have to contend with.

  15. Now, when anyone attacks Dave or messes with the plain work and meetings of UCO – we will all say ‘is that the poison pen / certifiable sicko?’
Volunteers work hard to provide for the needs of CV for no reward and sometimes at significant cost to themselves. Dave gives 200% every day. The more good that is given the more the evil ones are threatened.

  16. Is there no respect for anone left?
UCO Presdient Dave Israel is and has gone above and beyond to better the Village for all of us and this is what he gets in return?
ANY individual who stoops so low as this deserves no respect and obviously has none for themselves. Rotten garbage always festers and stinks as does the letter writer. Why did this individual not get up at a Delegates meeting and read this in person or are they to cowardly to do so.
Keep up the good work Dave and as always, good will prevail. I also agree that the authorities should be involved in this as it is what i consider a HATE CRIME in addition to a severe slander case.

  18. I had been relaxing since the election, sitting back watching how things go with Dave in charge. I just saw this note posted and snapped to attention.

Years ago I had a beloved boss tell me after someone viciously attacked him via a written approach much the same as the character assault contained in this letter, that you're not doing your job if someone isn't upset with you. He passed on years ago but his words were poignant, maybe even a little prophetic. He was a great man, and I loved working with him.

I haven't thought about my beloved boss’s advice in a long time but his words and spirit were roused just now as I read this anonymous note. I like that it’s anonymous because it shows what a true coward the writer is. In addition, I also like that the writer has allowed us to imagine who might have written it: perhaps a UCO candidate that was beaten? Or maybe someone who has a crush on Dave that he rejected? Or maybe a vendor that used to do a lot of work I the Village that no long has that luxury due to a change in circumstances? Fun to imagine, isn’t it?

By applying my boss’s advice to this matter what I know is, given the extra effort of this person to sit down to hand write an attack of Dave’s character, this letter confirms beyond a reasonable doubt that Dave Israel is doing an excellent job.

Dave, you may be disliked by a few, but you are loved by many.

Keep up the great work Dave!

    Best regards,
    Lenny Cohen

  19. Dave, I admit that I haven't been on the Blog in a long time but someone today just told me about this letter. I had to get online and read this crap for myself!
It's disgusting! You are doing a wonderful job and we are proud of you. I have heard nothing but positive things about your presidency.
This person is ill. Bless him.
Thank you for your hard work. You are appreciated!

  20. Differences of opinion are cool. Unfounded, slanderous and anonymous accusations are not. The person who wrote this letter wants to "expose" Dave. He can stand the scrutiny; obviously the writer can't. We should do everything to expose the accuser. In the meantime, we should not let any cheap shots go unanswered. Re people like Dave who devote their time and intelligence to helping others: no good deed goes unpunished, but sane people applaud the fine job you do.
