Hi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteThis type of sign has nothing to do with Code. Rather it is a product of "Signage Concupiscence". (SC)
It is the sort of SC that arises on the Security Committee where thoughts of the safety and security of our Villagers are debated.
I am, as noted elsewhere on this BLOG, in favor of unobtrusive signs required by Code; the rest are simply sign pollution and lead to visual blight.

Maybe? this sign was put up when they had the big speed bump that everyone complained was damaging their cars. Maybe we could take unnecessary signs down???? Think about that...
ReplyDeleteyears ago there was a group of folks that wanted to change the name of century village because they thought it was demeaning and made people think it was only for the old.
ReplyDeleteso maybe we could change it to SIGNTURY VILLAGE. we have more signs around than we need. if we remove some of the most obvious ones then maybe we wouldn't have the image of an old peoples place.
European Cities Do Away with Traffic Signs - the number of accidents has declined dramatically.

I remember this discussion also a year ago
No Barbara, this is a shiny glaring new sign on your way out, not to do with incoming bump at the bar. There are 7 signs within a few yards of this one outgoing. If someone knows the total costs associated with this one sign we could wake up the delegates.
ReplyDeleteWe could put price tags on all signs.
Your right Elaine, checked it out..Maybe SOMEONE could take these signs down and one that have 2 or more on them remove the ones not necessary. Looks like we have a good shot at it since our President and VP agree.
ReplyDeleteI also find these sign disgusting to our village. why don't you check with our cam to see who authorized. It seems money is being spent unauthorized for a lot of things??? Time to CHECK..
I thought Century meant you had to be 100 to live here, but what do I know...
ReplyDeleteWait till all the for Rent and for sale signs start appearing in the unit windows.Talk about sign overload!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, Peter, the "Century" only means you have to ACT like a 100-year-old.
