A friend of mine was recently robbed at gunpoint by two men after making an ATM withdrawal. She was not robbed outside the bank, but only after she had driven some distance to a school where she worked after-hours. Apparently the two robbers saw her make the withdrawal and followed her. If she had gone into a gated community like ours or if she had gone to her home where there were people around, I suppose the two men would have left for better pickings, and she would have been none the wiser.
This is something to watch out for. I’m accustomed to keeping an eye out when using the ATM. Now I'll be on the lookout for anyone following me in a car, and I'll be careful about where I get out of the car.
