May I swim in your pool?
I read, with interest, the letter from Ray Stoeker in the May issue of the UCO Reporter. He was uncomfortable after being (shunned) from the Wellington pool with his vacationing family. As a fairly new resident here in Century Village, can someone post what pools everyone can enjoy, and which ones are "residents pay extra" for? I would like not to re-live Ray's experience, that's for sure. Especially since I find my neighbors I've met so far to be so helpful and friendly. Thanks so much for the information! Deb Geller

WPRF Clubhouse and Outlying Pools – Rules and Regulations

"3. Persons under the age of 16 will NOT be admitted into the recreational facilities, except when accompanied by an adult. Such guests may use the guest swimming pool, shuffleboard courts, and picnic island."
Apparently Ray has lived here for 4 years, without having heard the words “guest pool”, or seen the signs, or read Clubhouse Info, or Association Bylaws, or heard general discussions! Children under 16 are only allowed in the Guest Pool (except when it is closed – see changes for the next 2 days.) Would he prefer to have been removed by Security?
WPRF Pools – Camden, Kent, Dorchester, Somerset, Southampton, 2 at Hastings, 3 at the Clubhouse. Other pools are Private Property, residents in those areas do pay extra compared to the rest of us.
Perhaps it is time for the UCO welcome package to be expanded and updated.

Everyone should receive the Welcome Packets. I have one from UCO and from WPRF in our data base.
It's a bit out of date, 2010, but they are still useful.
I have uploaded them to the cloud, and will shortly put the URL in the sidebar.

ReplyDelete@Anitra... I just read the welcome packet Dave said he would post. (Thanks Dave!) But it doesn't list ALL the pools that are open to residents yet. So print the pool info elaineb provided here until the update. And welcome!
ReplyDeleteThe Wellington pools were both LOCKED when we visited them today. We do not have keys to the pool, but do have a key to the mens' (but not ladies' restroom within the Wellington pool area.
ReplyDeleteWe are Wellington residents, up to date on all fees, and have not been given keys.
So, don't feel bad when you and your guests are rejected upon entry to the Wellington pools - Wellington residents who are not in favor of the longest running executive board (they signed the deed) don't get keys to the pool (or laundry facilities, in case you care to use ours).
This is a STRONG argument for some sort of term limits. The UCO board is doing an excellent job - maybe 4 2-year terms is enough - maybe even more - but when a President stays in office for approaching half their life, maybe they start to imagine enemies where there are only younger (I'm nearly 70) neighbors.
Fortunately, we can go to a pool where we are welcome.
