WINDSHIELD CRACKED DURING HIGH SPEED EXIT

 -
Hi all,
The vehicle shown hitting the gate-arm, left the Village at high speed, and as you will see in the video, made no attempt to slow down at all. His speed was sufficient to do significant damage to his windshield.
-
Is it worth the expense, please slow down when entering or leaving CV. Click on box at lower right corner to go to full screen,
-
Thanks to Maj. Jeff for the video clip.

  1. Do we know who it was? Do they have to pay for the pole? Any fines?

  2. Hopefully with the video you can get the police involved to give him a ticket. I would hope that you have his license number from a camera in the reverse direction.

  3. Hi all,
Unfortunately, there is no camera in place to capture the back end of an exiting vehicle.

Obtaining one is on the Security Committee agenda.

The key to resolving this particular event, has been to cruise the Village and find the vehicle with the matching windshield damage.

    The investigation is in progress!

  4. Let's all look then we will know the reason?
    Robbery getaway car
    Medication
    Texting, phone, or eating
    Dare or bet
    Egomaniac

There is a '10 MPH' sign, last month a man overtook me in the 20 ft before the gate arm, jammed himself ahead of me, he was lucky I had reflexes. I honked, he stopped got out and bitched, he had time for that but not time to drive sensibly!

  5. The trouble with this picture is that it does NOT seem to be our Century Village. If it is, where in the village do we have a sidewalk in the median strip.

  6. If you look at Google Earth, you will see Farnham Street and the Windsor drive/parking lot are a wide stretch of blacktop at that angle. Not a median, its just our west side footpath

  7. I must be incorrigible. Just as years ago I got a thrill out of seeing the burning wagons rolling into Oakdale Square, I have to admit to a kind of thrill in seeing these cars blast through the gates. This was a good one! And the gate arm went flying!

But of course (my saner self now resuming control) we've got to crack down on these scofflaws.....

  8. A simple solution would be a "SPEED BUMP" before and after the gate.
    That would slow me down!
