I suppose your Board can reduce the condo fees in your building, but if you find out how we all can do that and still pay the rising costs of services, post your answer right away please!

ReplyDeleteIt is a very hard situation when individuals cannot meet rising costs. That's why, with our condo association and some others, we (the board) do what we can to spend wisely and perhaps not do everything we'd like to do. In other words, we try to consider the poor among us in what we undertake.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, when an owner doesn't pay his dues, it hurts the whole association because the other owners must make up the difference. It would be better to pay some of your dues than none. It's important to let your creditors, whoever they are, know you are trying. We had an owner who was always a month behind in paying the condo dues. This person didn't quit on us but rather, KEPT PACE--only a month behind. We appreciated this.
Depending on your situation there may be help. I don't know a whole lot about it. I would suggest calling Elder Affairs (211); also calling UCO. There may be someone there who could at least direct you to possible help.
I wish you the best.
Make an appointment to see VP Phyllis Richland at UCO, she can help with benefits for the individual and keep it confidential 683-9189.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elaine. I almost suggested calling Phyllis but didn't want to put her on the spot, not knowing exactly what she could do, but you know better than I. I do know this much: that she has a heart for people and has been a great help to many. Thank you, Phyllis.
