The Artist movie

So, how did you like The Artist (at Clubhouse). Made me feel historical - I knew the local man who played piano all thru silent movies when I was child. I suppose the movie was clever if you are student of film.  Betcha Lanny likes it.

  1. Thank you, Elaine, for reminding me of the movie. I'll have to see it tomorrow (Sunday). I don't know how you got me pegged for liking the old silent movies, but I do (not that I was ALIVE back then, mind you). Part of it is that they're so simple and uncomplicated, and yes, the background music just "fits."

There have been perhaps a dozen times in my life when something has sent me into unstoppable gales of laughter, usually something funny---but not all THAT funny. One of those times was when I sat in the back of a theater watching Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times." I was on leave from the US army. Charlie is tried out on a newly designed "eating machine," which assists him (or is supposed to) in eating an ear of corn. The machine raises the corn to mouth level, brings it in toward his mouth, and then begins to slowly spin the ear. Only the machine gets out of control, the corn spins wildly, Charlie's head is bouncing off the corn, and kernels are flying all over the place. It just struck my funnybone, and I couldn't stop laughing.
