ReplyDeleteAcronym help please, “$25 per HP for A/C” HP? And if its horsepower how would I know that about my A/C. What average HP are our little units?
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteNovember 30, 2012 9:50 AM,
1 ton = 12000 BTU/hr
and to convert BTU/hr to horsepower;
12,000 * 0.0003929 = 4.715 hp
Therefore,
1 ton AC = 4.715 hp.
This is simply a theoretical result, I sincerely doubt you will find a 4.7 HP motor in your AC compressor.
Of course, one way to find out, is to have a look!
