Following is a photo of the Niagara Chorus in their more formal setting, when not orchestrating their Flash Mob performances:

Finally, being something of a purist, I believe that the correct instrument for this piece is a full Pipe Organ. I had the opportunity, while stationed in England some years ago to see and hear one of the largest Organs on earth, housed in Coventry Cathedral, the "voice" of this instrument is overwhelming; so here is yet another interpretation of Handel's work. Finally, I leave you all with a technical (hint) question: The young lady that triggers the Flash Mob performance at the mall, sings her entire part into an electronic device, what is it, and why???

  1. I have no idea why she is doing this, but I've found a number of these Flash Mob/Flash Culture things on U-Tube. They have done selections from Carmen, West Side Story and various operas. Sometimes there are only 3-4 participants, sometimes a large number. Sometimes it's a really big surprise to the customers. Apparently this has been going on here and there for a couple of years. Wish I knew when some local orchestra or singing group was going to do one of these at the Wellington or Gardens Mall. Shopper though I am NOT, I'd get over for it.
