RE: LOLA'S

Since Sue H recommended Lola's Seafood Eatery on this blog, I've been there four times. I've told this to my friends at the UCO Reporter, and now they've asked me to write a "local dining" piece on it for the newspaper. These are not reviews. I'm not qualified to write a review, for one thing. For another, I'm still in the "must have steamed clams" craze, and every time I go, I order the same thing, the steamers! I will write this piece for the paper, though. Do you mind, Sue H, if I give you credit for recommending it? I won't unless you say okay. In any event, THANK YOU for the suggestion. I discovered a bonus there, too: beignets! So I can get the best of Boston (where I come from) and the best of New Orleans: beignets—just as if I were at the Cafe du Monde having cafe du lait and beignets! Mix and match—is that what they call it?

  2. Hi Lanny

You have my permission! I am so happy you are enjoying the steamers! I'm back in CT. My mom and I were so happy to find this restaurant! Continue sharing with others. We also tried the beignets ...yum yum!

  5. Hi Bettie. The location of the restaurant is a secret. No, just kidding! You take Military Trail north to Northlake, then go west (left) on Northlake. Take second right, then an immediate right. This brings you into a small parking lot with shops on left. Lola's is last shop. I'm going to e-mail you more. Thank you for correction to cafe AU lait (the drink). I thought it was different from Cafe DU Monde (the place) but was too lazy to check it! Makes you wonder what I am doing on the newspaper staff, doesn't it?

Hi Sue. Thanks for permission to credit you with info on Lola's. Your "yum yum" was more persuasive than a newspaper restaurant review! I see you are a snowbird. When you return in the fall, I will treat you and your mom at Lola's, and Bettie as well.

  6. Lanny, I've been going to Lola's since it opened and most of the time get their lobster sandwish. It's made on a toasted bun (looks like a hotdog bun, but it's not) and the way you like the steamers, we love the lobster. It's not a mushy salad, but it's made of big bite-size pieces. It comes with either a wonderful salad or terrific French fries. So glad you have recommended it. Their address is 4595 Northlake; phone number is 561 622 2259. Wouldn't it be great to have an Executive Board meeting there?

Kudo's to you & a few other's who still have the stamina to interact
    with those practicing hypocrisy.

    Roberta, I second your suggestion
