TERM LIMITS FOR ALL UCO OFFICERS SWEPT AWAY

-
Hi all,
First I want to thank the Delegates that came out on a July 4th weekend to address important Village business. The Delegates showed up despite a  campaign by certain residents urging Delegates to stay home (The denial of quorum ploy). Our Board of Directors showed up with a quorum of 126 and voted with a strong majority by 90 votes to remove Term Limits.
-
I saw something at this Delegate Assembly, that I never thought I would live to see in America; two Residents; (American Citizens), made a big show of repudiating their voting certificates and worse yet, urging others to also renounce their right to vote. Given the fourth of July reminder of what our country has sacrificed to protect and defend this right for 237 years, to me; this act was unimaginably reprehensible!
-
One cannot help but ask how such disrespect for our voting rights might be reflected in their policies were they, by some bizarre twist of fate, to be elected to an office of responsibility in UCO. After urging delegates to give up their voting rights, they left the meeting, which then continued in an orderly fashion. Let's hope that this reflects the future conduct of the Delegate Assembly.

  1. Dave, thank you for all you do, how you put up with malcontents and litigious ** I do not know. As noted at the Delegate Assembly your work ethic and the results are phenomenal.

  2. Dave, you have the patience of a saint. You are truly remarkable. :)

  3. The four "persons" in question did not go very far after leaving the meeting. They were huddled together in the clubhouse lobby licking their wounds as I left...

  4. I do believe that once a quorum has been recognized and some folks leave the room those that remain are still able to vote and the
two thirds count still is in order.

  5. I have posted this opinion before and reiterate it again. Why must this be an all or nothing decision? Why can't we either lengthen terms or increase number of times a candidate can be reelected? I feel that no term limits leads us open to future office holders who feel no obligation to listen to owners, knowing that there is no easy way to remove them from office.

  6. Can't get any easier than voting a person out of office.

  7. The recall process is also easy as long as it has a reasonable basis.

  8. May I first say that I have no reason to doubt that David israel is a good leader and deserves to continue in this post for the time being. As a snowbird, may I once again complain that such an important issue is being discussed/voted on when more than 1/2 of the residents are not present.

Yesterday, I arrived at my condo at 2:15 a.m. after many delays, a long travel day and many hours after I had expected to arrive. There was a car in my designated space. Within minutes after I called the Condo Assoc the following day, the car was moved. It indicates to me that year-long residents or boards feel free to ignore the rights of "snow birds". This is a trivial matter, but it indicates to me that "snow bird" rights may also be ignored in more serious matters, such as term limits. If I do not own my parking space, and I am sure this happens throughout CV, then how can I know that my delegate does not also ignore my opinions about operating CV. Please do not tell me this is a problem at my condo only; You know and I know that it is not.

  9. Jantor: You're rights as a part time resident are not any greater or lesser than mine as a full time resident. As a full time resident, I want regular activities ALL YEAR ROUND at CV. If you want to participate beyond your part time stay, leave a proxy behind or elect a trustworthy board at your building.

  10. I respectfully disagree, Picruise. How can I leave a proxy behind if I do not know what issues will be raised in my absence? Even delegates I respect may disagree with me on a particular issue.
I enjoy my life here in CV and, I suspect, that like many other current full-time residents, I will eventually morph from pt to ft.
We are not a hugh nation that needs to rely on representation to operate a government; we are small enough to allow each resident a method for voting. Mr. Israel, whom I respect, has done much to move us into the 21 C. Why not look to remote/internet voting on important issues and CERTAINLY term limits is too important to have less than 1/2 of residents to actually cast a vote!

  11. Your delegate or the alternate is the one voting for your association.
