ONE REASON WHY I AM FOR DAVE ISRAEL FOR UCO PRESIDENT
On not changing horses in midstream
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines changing horses in midstream as "choosing a different leader or
policy during a time when serious problems are being dealt with."
That's only one reason why I am for reelecting Dave Israel UCO president on
March 2.
We are smack in the middle of a major technological change
in the Village. For the past two years under the leadership of Dave Israel, assuming
the roles of both UCO president and
chair of the Broadband Committee, we have come to the halfway point of full implementation
of a new provider of our TV, Internet and landline telephone services. Thanks
to the efforts of the Committee, we now have a signed contract with Atlantic
Broadband to be our new telecommunications provider beginning in June of 2019, which
should afford us better services at a far lower cost. The two years till June
2017 were the NEGOTIATIONS PHASE.
The two years we are in now are the IMPLEMENTATION PHASE.
Oversight by the Broadband Committee—headed up by Dave Israel—will be critical
to this being done in the right way in the right time at the agreed-upon costs.
In addition, there are ancillary projects that have been discussed with Atlantic
Broadband, which, if implemented, could be of great advantage to the Village.
Without Dave's technical expertise and leadership over this two-year period, I
can imagine a good deal of what we've worked so hard to accomplish collapsing
and the ancillary projects perhaps "forgotten." Remember, Dave is a
telecommunications expert himself, having worked for thirty years in cryptanalysis
for the National Security Agency, which protects the nation. Is this the time for someone with no such expertise or an
untried "town manager" at the helm?
I'm sure you readers can think of other reasons to reelect
Dave. This is only one.

Lanny, I totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteDavid has done many things to improve the life of residents here in CV. We have brand new buses that are easier to get on and off for our older residents. A brand new cable system that is being installed as I type and an overall feeling of happiness for our residents.
