Atlantic Broadband Ground Breaking

Finally all the naysayers can begin to relax. Ground breaking for Atlantic Broadband has arrived.
This gives the village much to celebrate about, especially since our current provider is giving many headache and raising internet prices (personal experience). I for one will be glad when it is all complete, and I will be watching and the Broadband committee will surely get and give updates.

  1. A Comcast person tells me we can keep our Comcast email accounts when we switch to Atlantic Broadband, is that right or is there more to it? thx.

    1. Hi Elaine, Just in case, you might want to think about migrating your mail to one of the major webmail providers, such as gmail or Hotmail. Just a thought....

    2. Thx Louise, 'migrate' was the key word, I was trying 'consolidate' etc., also had to enable IMAP, yeah.

    3. Hi Elaine,
When you close the COMCAST account, your email address will be closed with it. You can get a free email account from Gmail, Yahoo Mail, or Outlook.com, just to name a few. Then, once you have setup your new email account, you can set up forwarding on your COMCAST email account to your new email address before you close it.

  2. Not sure about that, but will ask at next broadband meeting.

  3. I'm quite sure that Internet (for your e-mail) and Phone, which are optional coverages through Atlantic Broadband, could be through any other carrier such as Comcast or AT&T that is wired in to your residence or sufficiently nearby. Our present TV provider is Comcast. Up until recently my Internet (includes e-mail) and landline phone were with AT&T. I've now switched to all Comcast, but only because of a problem with the AT&T wiring in the apartment. I'll undoubtedly switch to all Atlantic Broadband when they get all hooked up because all three services will be much less expensive through them.

  4. Is there any type of list of projected installation dates for each of our condo buildings? Is there a contractual date that sets forth when all installations must be completed? A more specific question relates to how does each unit owner get Atlantic to place the lines within their unit and get the necessary "boxes" to decode the signal? Many snow birds will be away until the winter months next year. How will the individual installations be accomplished if they are absent? How will Atlantic know where to place the lines?
