This has been happening all over the community. The folks installing the piping for the new cable seem to be cutting the Comcast Lines and more. In Kent we have lost internet twice in a two week period. First, it appears a line was cut near the intersection outside the clubhouse and second, the comcast cable and water main appear to have been damaged off North Dr. Add in the daily geyser on North Drive where a sprinkler head was damaged and we now have an additional water feature in CV.
ReplyDeleteCharlie, the Atlantic Broadband foreman, warned us of this at a couple of the recent Broadband Committee meetings. He said that though AB would do their level best to not cut through underground utility lines (cables and tubes), this would happen fairly frequently. One reason for this is that the county records showing where these lines run under the soil are not complete. AB knows where some lines run but not all. For example, a number of old AT&T lines are not recorded with the county. Worst of all, are our irrigation lines. They are located helter-skelter throughout the Village, some in use and others not having been in use for years. Charlie said this is par for the course in old developments such as ours, and assured the Committee that AB would repair such breakages promptly. From what I have heard that has happened. At least this is proof after some waiting that Atlantic Broadband IS now actively installing their fiber-optic cable throughout our campus.
ReplyDeleteMama told me their would be days like this.
DeleteYou have to go through the bad to get to the good!
There should be a complete survey of all the wires and pipes in the village, and require all companies doing the irrigation in each association to provide schematics and surveys of all the piping, wiring and whatever they do underground as they complete any and all repairs or installations.
