PALM BEACH POST
WEST PALM BEACH —
Palm Beach County commission aide Peyton McArthur’s last-minute decision to run for his boss’s seat backfired on Friday when he was forced to pull out of the commission race because he failed to resign from his post as a Port of Palm Beach commissioner.
In a one-sentence letter to Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher, McArthur wrote: “Please accept this as a formal request to withdraw as a candidate for County Commissioner, District 2.” McArthur, a longtime Democratic activist, was not immediately available for comment.
