Closing of the Island!!

What is the logic of closing the pickleball courts, Paddleball ,Petanque, Bocci and sailing during the vaccination? This is the only recreation available and to close it for a week is outrageous.

I hope the management would reconsider.

Thank you

  1. I assume they are trying to keep the parking lot clear of any congestion and confusion with the 500 people per day coming for their vaccine shot. Of course, it’s inconvenient but certainly for the greater good.

    1. 500 people over an 8 hour day averages 62 people per hour not cars per hour

  2. Not each car but each individual person's - whether in a car, on a bicycle, or walking - appointment sheet, valid government issued ID (for age), and active CV ID (for residency) has to be vetted at the bridge. There have already been delays as people fumbled for or argued about their ID'S, showed up at the wrong time, or had to be redirected to the synagogue to make an appointment in the first place. Even if the screening took just one minute for each and every person (some take several minutes), at "62 people per hour" (as calculated above), an hour would be barely sufficient.
And the security officer is standing in the middle of the road as they check documentation.

  3. The logic of closing rec facilities during covid vaccinations...Well gee, could it be that people from outside the village may try to get in and take the space meant for a resident? The planning and coordination get this into the village at all, with the state, county, police, Security, volunteers and National guard as well as the Medical personnel was no small feat. It was actually cancelled and through the efforts of key personnel in UCO, namely David Israel and Donald Foster. Everyone at UCO, almost every officer, every volunteer has sacrificed to keep the office and it's services open during this Covid fiasco.
To hear someone complain that they can't use facilities on the island because of issuance of covid vaccines just makes me realize the selfishness of some in the village. Disappointing to say the least.

    1. How can anyone from outside the village come in to CV? I thought this was a gated community, and what's wrong with having outsiders use the left over vaccines? that's what I call selfishness!
Have a nice weekend, and stay safe:-)
