“French Review”
Entertainment and a Dance. Ooh la
la.

The Act 2 Repertory Theater group branched out into fresh territory with
a new name to match. On August 11th in the party room, the Encore
Players, the brainchild of Kitty Gragg and Natalia Bragarnik, produced an
evening of showtime entertainment bistro-style. What was the twist? The
audience got a chance to get up and dance in between sets, which was a big hit.
This show had the whole package; interesting numbers, the ability to bring your
own drinks and sit at a table nightclub-style, and great music for audience
dancing. The show had a French theme; and yes, it included the Encore Dancers
doing the Cancan. The costumes were dazzling, and because the talent was
hand-picked the performances were top-shelf.
MC’d by
Kitty Gragg, some of the well-rehearsed offerings included “I Love Paris” sung
by Sonny Buovolo, “I Remember it Well” performed by Linda and Erwin Protter,
and C’est Magnifique by Joe Finello and Barbara Goldman.
All in all, I’d have to say the venture was a success. Will we be treated to more of these relaxed nightclub-style shows from the Encore Players? We’ll have to wait and see. Stay tuned.
