Insurance again #2

Hello Elaine,
Am I still around you ask? You bet I am. Don't forget that 49.8% of the Delegates voted for me, and I plan to be around even after all the facts are known and the dust settles.

As for the 2009 policies, they were taken back to Plastridge Agency (Karen Bottcher) to rearrange it for the year 2010 just as we have done every year as there is limited space in our new UCO Office.
Why rearrange you ask! Some policies are renewed in the middle of the year and in order to ease up reading it in the new year, we use to rearrange the policies, still in effect, to add it to the new ones. The agency must keep our copies for 5 years.

I did not hear your criticism when IN THE LAST 4 YEARS, THE PREMIUMS WERE REDUCED! Or maybe you have conveniently forgotten that 90%+ of the increases in premiums for 2010 was politically ordered by the Florida Legislature; or have conveniently forgotten to mention that other policy is renewed at a lowered rate!

As far as suing is concerned, anyone who defames and publishes lies about me can expect that they may become a defendant in a law suit. Here in Century Village, people became accustomed to defamation, so it is a shock when someone is willing to fight back by 'putting their money where their mouth is' and seeking legal action.

I guess I now have more time on my hands to publicly “chat” with you, and have decided that by remaining silent, people might begin to believe the misleading and out of context information that is being spread around, rather than helping others.

This Blog is has dominated by a handful of people including you, who have been given a box to stand on in hopes of attracting a lynch mob when things go wrong.

Pandora's Box? When I opened it, even HOPE had escaped. But instead of hoping that all will be well by being silent while stones are being cast at me, I’ll challenge anyone, at anytime, to debate with me on the subject of MY MISTAKE. All of a sudden you know how ALL the people think and feel.

I love it when my opponents begin to defend the insurance companies for paying 'too much'. How do they know what too much is?? Why do you think there are at least three professional adjusters called to the casualty that inspect every claim, who are license and certified to determine the scope of works needed? When I tell my friend in the insurance business that here in Century Village, some people complain that the insurance companies are paying too much, they simply refuse to believe it! At the end of the road, who is the real beneficiary? The unit owners and the associations!

History will prove that 1st Priority did great service to many residents in Century Village. "Poor chaps", they were randomly picked up in the Maintenance Committee and were cleverly dragged into the election feud.

BY THE WAY, YOUR BUDDY THE NEW PRESIDENT, OWES HIS VICTORY TO 1ST PRIORITY!

I expected an angry reply from you. There doesn't seem to be any angry responses to my post. Maybe it goes to show that people ARE willing to listen to facts instead of just listening to the opinions of the few who have been influenced by venomous claims.

Elaine, give some thought to what mistakes I really made and if you think they are worth publishing, go right ahead. All I ask is for you to stick with the facts, and then we'll all see how short your response is. And, don't expect me to mention my shoe box filled with thank-yous anymore. What I have done for the Village in the past is reward enough since it came from the heart and not for the thanks.

  1. Hi all,
There are a number of investigations in progress on certain aspects covered in the Posted screed. The "facts" will come out hopefully in a Court of Law.

I will make but one comment; the removal of the Insurance Policies (UCO Property) from UCO spaces was not authorized, anymore than the removal of any other UCO property would be authorized.

    They should be returned expeditiously.

Dan if you had been elected president of U.C.O. would you be recommending 1st Priority??

    P.S.
Say Hi to your friend Jerry from me..

  3. Dear Mr. President,

When I removed the materials, I was the chair of the Insurance Committee which was before you became President. Removing and replacing the policies has been UCO policy for many, many years and you were a Vice President when the actions were taken.

You have been President now for exactly two weeks. If you wish to change the policy which was in place long before you were installed, it is your prerogative. Only now as president you can make demands to go against what has always been done. I suggest that as new President you check for any previous sets of policies that existed in any previous year. It does not exist because it serves no purpose.

The Agency must keep by law, all our policies for 5 years.

  4. Hi Dan,
    March 28, 2010 9:11 PM,

Many things have been UCO policy for many years.
However, no policy, now, or in the past gave any Committee Chair the right to remove UCO property from the offices of UCO.

This "authority" which you claim, was in fact arrogation of authority; which has gotten us into problems in a number of areas over recent CV history.

Soon, all Associations will indeed have their complete policies; as required by FS-718 as part of Association record.

Thank you for so clearly articulating your philosophy for all to read.

As President or in any other post I would not recommend anybody for anything.
Had I known what I know now, I would not recommend 1st Priority to start with. To take a blame for anything under the sun jut because I recommended them is not my style.

Jerry thanks you for your sincere wishes.

You never really told us why you had suddenly dropped out of the race after spending thousands of dollars on your campaign?

Did someone found anything in your past that all of a sudden you became so friendly?
Like New York for instance or the West Palm Beach official records?

  6. Yes Dan, all insurance went up in Florida but our policy was dropped because of the high claims which had to be paid out. When 1st Priority first went to my president's condo the man told him right away that he would have a brand new condo. Yes, they ripped out everything even though there was no mold to be seen except under the sink where the leak was. Downstairs they did the same even though the woman's adjuster said there was only a board under the cabinet that had been damaged and the hole in the wall made by 1st Priority to see if there was mold. None to be seen, no smell as the air conditioner was on previously and of course the hole in the ceiling made by the water. 1st Priority pulled out even the second bathroom even though there was no damage. They told me to mind my own busness when I questioned what was happening. They received almost $18,000. for work which a lot of it was not required and then you called me to a meeting at UCO with others and an adjuster so 1st Priority could get more money. You never checked out my president's damage to see if in fact they had gotten enough money. You never checked out the downstairs. In retrospect I did not ask the required questions. 1st Priority did more work than was necessary and got paid for that work. I wonder how much more they got from that meeting with all the other owners?????? This is the reason for the much higher premiums aside from the inrease allowed.

  7. Hello Grace,
Your opinion has been made clear on the Blog throught the election, you were biggest critcs.

Do you really believe that the professional & certified insurance adjusters did not know what they were doing?

Here's a scoop for you. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT RENEW OUR CONTRACT BECAUSE OF THE FREQUENCY OF THE CLAIMS NOT THE DOLLAR AMOUNT. Do you have any idea how much the insurance company paid last year? Much less than all the numbers that had been stated during the election by politically motivated people. I was getting damage calls every 2 days. Not all ended in an insurance claims but still had to be reported and inspected!

You keep saying “…You never checked out my president's damage to see if in fact they had gotten enough money. You never checked out the downstairs. In retrospect I did not ask the required questions...” Was it my job to do all this? You and my other critics lost the track somewhere along the way with your eagerness to win the election for David. By the same token, do you know how OTHER similar companies work? I do, and they are no different. Keep in mind that I was involved with OTHER SIMILAR COMPANIES also but I am not going to make excuses to you for what I did or did not do as a volunteer. You may want to do your own homework.

Personally I was not involved in your building except some updates from you to me.

  8. Dan my criticism is more for 1st Priority than for you. I only wonder why the almost $17,000 wasn't enough for 1st Priority and why you felt they needed more from our building and others? You were certainly looking out for 1st Priority and not worrying about the money being paid out by the insurance company for so many claims all over the village. I knew we would get hit with a big increase although I am not expert in insurance as you claim to be. I just didn't think we would be dropped for so many claims. Now we all pay the price for 1st Priority extravagance in rippig out all those condos most which didn't need it.

The reason i dropped out of the race

I realized you had over a hundred delegates in your pocket, had I stayed in the race I would have split the vote between myself and David.

That would have made you President of U.C.O.

That would have been a true disaster for our village

  10. Hello Grace,

I guess I am grinding water with you. My only concern always have been the insureds, and the insureds only. I think enough was said how 1st Priority came into the "game". I did not look after 1st Priority, THEY WERE LOOKING AFTER US WHEN THEY WERE WILLING TO WORK WITH DEFERRED PAYMENTS. Ask the people who had old, neglected, unlivable apartments, who got at the end of the road, a beautiful place to live, new & up to code.

It has always been music to my ears when the insureds "complained" that the "helpless" insurance companies were paying too much money.
The ones who really benefited were the unit owners and the associations.

Let me make this message a bit pictorial. A guy wins a luxurious trip to a Hawaii with everything paid including first class airline ticket. He kept complaining that the airline was making too much money on his ticket.

You have not answered my previous question, “What is the roll of the insurance adjusters in all this, including the two largest offices in Florida?”.
Interesting enough, we haven't heard anything, not a word, on the many other companies that have been working in our Village. They have been doing the same thing that 1st Priority has done. They change wet walls before mold sets in because the adjusters want to prevent possible future greater damage. I know because I was dealing with all of them too. BUT BECAUSE IT SERVED NO POLITICAL PURPOSE, WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THEM. Are you, and others, beginning to see the big picture?

  11. Peter,
Face the facts, you dropped out because you have less qualifications for President than can be imagined. Now that would have been the true disaster if somehow you got elected. What would your platform be? A tankless water heater in every unit at discounted prices????
Everyone knows with your lack of experience in UCO affairs that the only reson for you running for the office was to generate more business. The votes "I had in my pocket" were earned from a decade of daily service to the residents of Century Village. The only house calls you ever made were for profit! End of discussion. If you have something to tell me then email. This is not the place to air your dirty linen.
