I know it's unrealistic, but I'd love to see the golf course property become a nature preserve, or possibly even a golf course, when the economy picks up.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent idea, Randall, a nature preserve!
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago, I visited the Wakodahatchee Wildlife Refuge off Jog Road in Boynton Beach, where there is over a mile of boardwalk over marsh and you can see all kinds of waterfowl, turtles, and alligators. It or Green Cay, also in Boynton Beach, are great birding areas. The point I am getting at, though, is that shortly after returning to the Village from this spectacular outing, I happened to be walking alongside our lakes and a couple of our DIRTY old canals, and saw many of the SAME BIRDS I had gotten so enthused over at exotic Wakodahatchee. Apparently they aren't too choosy about where they hang out.
The birds ARE here, and apparently also an alligator or two and turtles. So yes, why not dream about the old golf course becoming a nature preserve?
