Something to think about

November 19, 2011

Just an interesting thought.
I am currently reading “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson and I am reading about the ipad development and the apps that they wanted to provide.

Steve rejected an app for porn and someone took him to task for censorship. Steve’s reply is that one might care more about porn when they have kids, and it’s not about censorship or freedom, it’s about Apple trying to do the right thing for its users.

Then he said: By the way, what have you done that’s so great? Do you create anything or just criticize others’ work and belittle their motivations?

I think the above is so applicable to life here in the village. Are we working to divide and destroy or to do the RIGHT thing for the village. I believe that David is working much harder than a volunteer can be expected to work and his goal is doing “THE RIGHT THING” for all of us.

  1. Mollie:

I agree with you 100%. David is
always making sure that things at
Century Village are running smoothly. As our President he works very hard and would love to
see him re-elected as our President in the next election.

  2. I agree with you both. David works for the welfare of the whole village while we have a group who go to meetings with nothing constructive to offer but to disrupt. Two of our past volunteers broke the law when they kept and used lists of presidents and officers names and addresses to mail out disparaging letters. Shame on you!
Keep up the good work David!

  3. Too true Mollie! I think some of the noisiest folks believe “If it ain't broken keep f****** with it until it is!!”
UCO 2010 and 2011 has been outstandingly productive. Let's stay on track.

  4. Dave IS working incredibly hard, and he has been an excellent UCO president in my opinion. I thought your husband was a great UCO president, too, Mollie. We are fortunate to have so many hard-working volunteers, which is a point our CAM, Rodger Carver, made about Century Village WPB in a recent interview. OF COURSE we don't agree all the time. I don't even agree with myself some of the time! I've got to read that Steve Jobs book.

  5. A little strong and libelous Grace. Nobody broke the law – one of the volunteers you refer too complied the list quite legally from records held at Sunbiz. All 309 of them.!!!! Investigative journalism is one percent inspiration and 99% perspiration. It’s not rocket science just commitment and knowing where to find the information. As far as I’m aware that’s not the crime.

  6. I am so happy that you know where the lists came from Sue. I did not know that you could compile lists that way. There is a new law that states that you cannot pass around lists of phone numbers and addresses so I guess that law doesn't make sense since anyone can compile their own. I apologize for believing the worst of a couple of people who sent out their nasty letters. I am not interested in their filth!

  7. Molly, what do you call doing the right thing for the residents? Does that mean letting someone else making all of their decisions for them. Let's see how successful that has been.

UCO blessed Plastridge for years so we could pay 2X more for our premiums. ...and lets see...UCO blessed a million dollar lawsuit that was frivilous and netted hard feelings and confusion in the Village. ....and let's see...two UCO chairs blessed 1st Priority who lost our insurance for us and put over 70 residents out of their homes for some more than a year. .....and let's see the millennium agreement was a doozy also. So, your recommendation is to not get facts or question the super brains and talent at UCO?
Another comment was about doing nothing but criticize. My resume for volunteer work in the Village is longer than most of you critics put together. I don't know about the rest of you but I will always question and seek knowledge.
As for David, he has been attacking me. He and I have been friends for years, my doing two campaigns for him for President. I guess here in the Village there is no such word as loyalty.

  8. Jean you said it all. That was when we had other presidents. Now we have been blessed with David Israel who has gone out of his way to make sure that we are not getting a royal screwing as we had in the past. You know this is true Jean.

  9. My Mother used to say; "Look at the kettle calling the pot black". You're the one with the loyalty problem, Jean. As for David, I've been here 22 years and have seen many UCO Presidents come and go. In my estimation Dave, you have proven to be the best. You are constantly working to improve our village; and you certainly have done a great job! I owe you thanks Dave. vttofla

  11. And just who do you think was David’s campaign manager in the last two UCO Elections, Roberta?
