Termite infestation
-
Our board was discussing about methods used to eliminate termite infestation. Do they still use tents in this process? If not, are unit owners obliged to vacate their premises during the procedure and if so for how long of a period?
Thank you so much. Our board is very grateful with your quick and informative responses.

My association keeps a contract in force with Orkin, this provides periodic inspections, they come when called, and treat as needed. We are one of the NW 'newer' buildings with more concrete, so we can have spot treatments. An older wooden building with a severe investation may need tenting. You can get prices from Hulett, Nolen, etc. A new inspection and estimate is usually free!
ReplyDeleteHulett is on TV strenuously advertising their no-evacuation options.
I agree totally with Elaine. We also use Orkin and have periodic inspections of the grounds and attics. They have provided us with good service at good rates for over two years now.
ReplyDeleteWe had termites in one vacant condo. Seacrest wanted to tent the building, Hulett treated the condo. We saved a lot of money and no one had to move out. It would have been a horror. No more termites. Hulett told me they only tent when the building is infestated. We were just one condo. We also had outdoor termites and that was treated on the outside to the three buildings.
ReplyDeleteFrom my experience, I wouldn't trust Seacrest for any important pest control guidance. Hulett has a good reputation, I think, as does Nozzle Nolan, and apparently Orkin does from what Elaine and DgtlXray say.
ReplyDeleteHi Lanny,
ReplyDeleteMarch 9, 2012 10:58 PM,
Well, as it happens, a close study of the matter will reveal, that while Asa Necritz agrees; Salo Nochtagall does not!
What do you think of that?
Dave Israel
I will be thinking about this, Dave. I certainly don't want to go head-on with you with you over this after my inglorious defeat over the Purple Whatever-It-Was. I will say this, though: SO FAR it has seemed to me your second term could be termed the Let's-Laugh-It-Up Term.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave,
ReplyDeleteI have done my best to figure out what Asa Necritz and Salo Nochtagail signify in the light of this blog and the comments. I've fiddled around with the letters looking for a code (admittedly I don't have cypher machines like the ones you had in your government work), and I've consulted Mr. Google, all while neglecting my other duties in the process. I have tried everything I could think of short of relearning quadratic equations.
The sink is now full of dirty dishes, the laundry needs doing, and I have shirked my association president responsibilities for the better part of a day. No luck. I give up. I am not a Nutmegger, who can solve your posers.
It is now 5:30 a.m. Would you like to "unenigmatize" this for me and perhaps a couple of others who might be tuned in on the Blog? We would be grateful, master.
Hi Lanny,

Unfortunately, these are arcane matters emergent from the oracular presence.
Thus, one must be an acolyte of the Delphic see to be admitted to the sacred circle!
Dave Israel
Ah, master, you are a hard one!
