Banned and Burned
Exhibition at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach
The West Palm Beach Library Foundation presents “Banned and
Burned: Literary Censorship and the Loss of Freedom”. This eight-week
exhibition at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach runs from Wed., Nov.
7th- Sun., Jan. 6, 2013 and will provide a vivid look at the first steps the
Nazis took to suppress freedom of expression, and the strong response from the
United States.
It includes displays of period artifacts, documents and news
coverage, along with film, video and newsreel footage. For exhibition details,
other events and sponsorship information, call 561.868.7715 or visit the
Foundation website at www.wpblibraryfound.org.
A special event highlighting the exhibition will be a free
musical concert, “A Tribute to Holocaust Music!” This performance will be held on Sunday,
December 2nd from 2:00pm-3:00pm in the library’s Auditorium. Please join us as Cantor Emil Levy and keyboardist
Dr. Mark Cuttler perform a tribute to Holocaust music. Learn about Holocaust
music and the optimistic influence Jewish music had on the prisoners as a sign
of hope. The film The Forgotten People: Christianity and the Holocaust will be
shown following the performance. This film spotlights Judeo-Christian
solidarity throughout history’s darkest hour. For more information please contact the
library at 561.868.7701. Parking at the
library is FREE on Sundays!
See you soon at the Mandel Public Library!
