You intimated if we did not like our
community, we could leave the country. Wow, what a choice!
-
Love it or leave it. This was the CRY
of the HAWKS during the 1960’s Vietnam War when many poor young men
and women were being uselessly killed while their rich counterparts
were in college escaping the draft.
-
At that time, many of us
proudly protested the war, and I am one of those protesters who were
vindicated when the most famous hawk of all Mr. Robert McNamara
admitted the war was a HUGE MISTAKE. Is it likely Mr. Rivera that you
are making a big mistake by getting rid of the protesters in Century
Village?

Is it imaginable that some day in the future you will have
to admit you were wrong? After all if people like me leave and there
is no dissent, there will be no democracy because democracy IS
dissent. Without dissent there is only dictatorship; one mind, one
ideology. Remember, it is you who said this is America; it is still
a free country, if we don’t like it, we could leave. So, feel free
to leave anytime you wish because people such as me are going to
continue contaminating the environment with democratic dissension.
-
Oh, and by the way, what makes you
think that African Americans and Jews are so inferior they need us to
fight for their rights? They are most certainly strong, and smart
enough to fight their own battles.
