ASSOCIATION NOT REPRESENTED AT DELEGATE ASSEMBLY - A SELF INFLICTED WOUND

-
I note some discussion as to why votes on important issues are being taken while Seasonal Residents are off campus. This is a red-herring of the worst variety. Following is an extract from the UCO Bylaws:
-
C. The Board of Administration of an Association will submit to UCO, in writing, a list of its officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer), Delegates(s), and Alternate Delegate(s) immediately following the election at the Association’s Annual Meeting. UCO will recognize the President of such Association as its lawful Delegate until notified, in writing, by the Association of a change in presidency or that a different or additional lawful Delegate(s) or Alternate(s) has been chosen by the Association. No Delegate or Alternate Delegate is eligible to serve as an Officer of UCO, nor shall a Delegate or Alternate Delegate represent more than one Condominium Association at the same time. (emphasis added)
-
The key thing to note is the term "Alternate". If your Association has not designated Alternate Delegates to represent your building at Delegate Assembly; you have disenfranchised yourself. Think about this, your right to representation and the vote, is a key fiduciary trust that you as a Board member owe by morals and law to your unit owners. Do it, or step out of the kitchen.

  1. How does one find out if an association has been represented at monthly Delegate Meetings?

  2. You mean your delegate does not post the Del Assy pkg from the meeting, and post the special notices that UCO helpfully attaches, you do not talk to your delegate, I guess you will have to phone UCO ...
