INSTRUCTIONS ON USING THE NEW TV SERVICE?
At one time I recall the Broadband Committee discussing
having a team of instructors go out among the associations and
teach the residents how to use the new Atlantic Broadband TV, in particular the
remote. I think this was going to be done by first having AB personnel
thoroughly teach Village volunteers, and then having the volunteers spread out
among the various condo associations.
Is this still on the burner? Will we have to wait for it
until June 30, when the old Comcast contract expires, or can it be started now?
I ask because I hear a lot of complaints about how difficult it is to find what
you want using the new remote and with the different format on the TV screen.
People are saying how "simple" it was with Comcast (forgetting, of
course, how long it took them to learn their remote). The sooner this can be
implemented, the better I would think, and the sooner an end put TO A GROWING NUMBER OF DISSATISFIED RESIDENTS.

Hi Lanny,
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly is/are the problem(s) with the Atlantic Broadband remote control and/or Set Top Box?
In due course, we will be doing training on the new equipment.

On a similar subject; is there any way that UCO can arrange for Comcast equipment to be returned? Many of our residents do not drive and will have great difficulty returning their Comcast equipment.
ReplyDeleteWith anything new it is just a learning experience. We wish the remote was bigger like Comcast's but we are getting used to it. My husband is legally blind and he got the hang of it by touch and also getting used to the menus. Having the Tivo voice control remote is a blessing for him. You can't beat the price with premium and extra channels included. When we signed up the MLB app was available but MLB took it off Tivo. We signed up for MLB online and watch the Yankee games that are not on TV on the computer. We are hoping in the future MLB will allow Tivo to use the app.
ReplyDeleteThe picture quality is great, much better than Comcast. With Comcast You Tube used to freeze a lot, with Atlantic Broadband it doesn't. We were paying $69 just for internet now we pay $63 for everything. Saving over $100 a month. You can't beat that!
I was not having trouble myself, Dave. It's been friends who have complained to me and a friend (who in turn told me about others), so I can't give many specifics of where they had a problem. I know it has been with reading the channel number on the TV screen (seems very small), using the remote, and understanding all the information that sometimes gets displayed on the screen. I'm not personally a case in point, because I have hardly watched any TV since the AB tech installed their equipment—only snatches of the Tennis Channel (great to have that!),the classical music channels, PBS, Fox and NBC.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear we ARE going to have volunteer instructors in due time. This will be a big help, I think, and as the first wave of viewers are helped, they will be able to assist others. If I am really stymied, I understand I can get help from Cathy's husband, right?
I was just thinking: It would be a nice gesture, complementing the now free Tennis Channel, to get Har-Tru tennis courts….
