CITIZENS OBSERVER PATROL (COP) TO BE REVITALIZED

Hi All,

When I was made aware that there were some issues with our COP unit, I ask VP Phyllis Richland to attend their meeting with only 10 minutes notice.

Phyllis took the message that UCO fully supports COP and will make every effort to publicize the efforts of these volunteers who are a key component in our Security Triad.

Thanks are due for her rapid response.

Phyllis has arranged a meeting with PBSO officers to discuss what we can do to revitalize the COP unit here in CV.

So, the imminent threat of the demise of COP in CV is highly premature, as we have already had additional volunteers; please consider stepping up and volunteer for COP to enhance the security of our village.

The End of COPS in CV

I called COPS this morning to ask if they could provide an article for the UCO Reporter to update the village on COPS. I was informed that the CV leadership of COPS is resigning at the end of July and tomorrow’s meeting could see the end of COPS in CV!
The regular meeting is in the Clubhouse Rm B at 9:30am 7/8/10 tomorrow.
They have volunteers to drive but not to lead our group. Without proper organization the Sheriff will take back our car (we only have one). We need more COPS to check on the ‘golf course’, this would be a particularly bad time to lose COPS.
Sorry I do not know more. Is there oversight or liaison at UCO? Has this issue been raised at a Delegate Meeting or other UCO meetings?

Evelyn Lebowitz supervises many COPS groups in Cypress Lakes, Golden Lakes, Bella Terra, etc, etc.
You would be most welcome at the meeting tomorrow.

C O P S

On several occasions, my attention has been drawn during mid to later afternoon hrs.,
while returning home, along Haverhill Road, from Okeechobee Blvd., to the East Gate
Entrance, of the village, of one of the above cars, exiting the Babie's R Us, shopping center, failing to use signals, both on Haverhill, and entering the Village,
driving in the center of both lanes, after passing the resident's entrance, gradually
easing over to the right lane ( 4 corner stop ) finally using the signals, indicating
a R turn, without a full stop ( slowing down ) and continuing along the East Drive
onto the North Drive.. It has always been my impression these Volunteers, were
there to set an example, as well as assist if needed....If they cannot implement
the basic road rules, as second nature, they should be "retired"
