Help Is On The Way To Fearful Victims!

I have created this new Blog post to help provide information to all of the victims who came to the Delegates Assembly this past Friday, February 5, 2010, and all of those who wish they had attended who have since been made aware of the campaign to rid Century Village of the corruption (in this author's humble opinion), threats, intimidation, coercion, greed, abuse of power, and the abuse of those who reside in this Village.

I have personally been witness to and victim first-hand of the tactics and methods used by 1st Priority, the UCO insurance advisor Dan Gladstone, and the Public Adjuster to try to assure maximum profitability at the expense of and on the backs of the elderly in my own association for over a year now. I have been in meetings where Dan Gladstone, when told by my wife that in this country we don't do business the way he was trying to force upon our Association president, began yelling expletives and throwing the F-Bomb at my wife, and subsequently threatened to withhold any further or future services by UCO (yes, he WAS representing UCO as their representative) and to our Association if the president did not sign over a $7200 insurance check to the man, a one Salomon Taboul, the "President" (in his mind only) of 1st Priority, who when told we would not sign over the check earlier that day, immediately called Dan Gladstone, who arrived not 5 minutes later, to begin his verbal assault on us. This, from the man who touts the elderly men and women of Century Village as "his flock" and to whom he looks after and tends, much like the shepards of old Jerusalem. On that night, however, there is no doubt as to what flock he was protecting.....a one man flock....and it wasn't anyone who lives in Century Village. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing these entities will stop at to pursue and destroy the life savings of anyone they can get their grubby little hands on... It is for this reason I spoke at the Delegates' Assembly on Friday. And it is for this reason I will wage this campaign, along with many other committed friends, victims, and non-victims alike, to rid this community of the abusive tactics of these and any others like them, who plan to take advantage of the elderly or anyone else, for that matter.

I encourage anyone who has been victimized by any contractor, insurance advisor, insurance adjuster, or public adjuster, to contact myself, Lee Hunt (561) 202-8460, or Jean Dowling (561) 640-7606, to add your name to the growing list of victims of those mentioned above. There is a meeting on Tuesday, Feb 9, @10AM in the Party Room of the Main Clubhouse, to provide guidance to you prior to your attendance at the Wednesday meeting where the UCO Attorney will be present to discuss your concerns. Please remember, this attorney is being retained by UCO - in essence, he is THEIR lawyer. There may be some culpability by certain officers of UCO as this ugly situation begins to unfold, which means there may be a conflict of interest in the attorney trying to protect and defend the owners' rights while at the same time trying to defend the rights of those who may be culpable. That's why we would like you to attend the "pre_lawyer meeting" meeting on Tuesday. If you can't make it, I ask that you withold any documentation and/or information, at least temporarily, until we have had our first "Victims' Rights Group" meeting on the 22nd of February. Instead, use the oppurtunity to ask questions that pertain to the legality of what you have experienced, without going into a lot of detail about your own specific incident. Questions like, "Is it legal for an insurance adjuster or Public Adjuster to give an insurance check belonging to his client - the association - to a contractor instead without first obtaining permission from the client?" or, "Isn't there a law somewhere that says that an insurance company or advisor cannot have an affiliation with a contractor, other than to seek their advice or estimates when making an assessment of damage to a home?"

Our "Victims' Rights Group" meeting will take place on February 22, in the Party Room of the Main Clubhouse, at 10 AM, to discuss the next steps to combat these cruel victimizations of our villagers and how you all can participate in these efforts. More details about the agenda, what to bring, etc., will be forthcoming in future blog posts and through phone calls and emails. Please insure that you pass the word to anyone who has not already contacted Jean or myself to please do so. Leave your name, phone number, email address, association, and president's name and phone number on the voicemail if we don't answer.

Most importantly, I want to send this personal message to those of you who are elderly, disenfranchised, who have suffered at the hands of those unscrupulous people who have intimidated you, threatened you, and forced you to become very afraid and fearful of retaliation - I say to you that YOU NOW HAVE A VOICE. This voice is getting stronger and louder each day. You no longer need to fear these people. If you receive any more intimidating calls or personal attempts to try to force you to do something against your will through coercion, threats, or intimidation, simply ask them - no - TELL THEM - to call this phone number - 561-202-8460, and then immediately hang up the phone or close the door. Then, I want you to call me immediately. If I don't answer right away, leave me a voice message. You need not be afraid any longer. Spread the word... to all victims and owners in the Village....Help is on the way.....

  2. Hello all,
I'm sorry I missed the meeting today. I am out of town on business and couldn't be back in time. Based on what I've heard about today's meeting at the clubhouse - once again, If you fall into any one or more of the following categories, I urge you to attend our "Victims' Rights Group" meeting February 22, 2010, at 10AM, in the Party Room of the Main Clubhouse:

    1. Anyone who has had any negative dealings with anyone from 1st Priority/MC Enterprises,

    2. Anyone who, even if they didn't use 1st Priority, has been pressured in any way to try to sign a contract with 1st Priority by someone from that company or the UCO Insurance Advisor,

    3. Anyone who has had negative dealings with UCO insurance advisor Dan Gladstone,

    4. Anyone who has had negative dealings with any public adjuster who has refused to give you or your president any insurance proceeds as a result of a casualty claim but instead gave the check to a contractor,

    5. Anyone from UCO who has made no attempt to assist you when asked after explaining your casualty problems.

At the meeting on the 22nd, we will discuss how we can help each other to resolve these ongoing contractor / insurance / personnel issues. You are going to need to prove that you have been damaged.

In order to do this, we are going to compile all of the claims brought before us and organize them in a way that will allow us to move forward towards resolution. This path forward will take many forms. So please come to the meeting prepared.

This is how to prepare. Prior to the meeting, please gather all of the documentation you have on each claim, including copies of contracts, memos for record, permits, licenses, scope of work, credentials of the contractors, records of payments from insurance companies as well as who the payments were made to, any adjuster's reports and statements, and anything else you have regarding the claims. Also, prepare a letter detailing exactly what happened from the day of the incident to present, including conversations between you and any other people involved in either helping or hurting your efforts to complete the jobs. Also, prepare a timeline of the claim. In other words, begin with the the date the casualty ocurred, followed by the date someone was first called, any subsequent calls, when they first responded, when they first arrived to sign contract, the date they started work, when they were last there to do any work, how long it has been since they were back, etc. etc. I think you get the picture. Be very specific when writing about who said what to whom. These statements will be crucial in presenting the claims as we move forward.

If you need help in making copies, just let us know.

Those of you reading this on the blog who know of others who don't have access to a computer and can't read this, please print this text out on your printer, make copies, and pass them to all others who need them. I'm sure they will appreciate your efforts on their behalf.

I know this sounds like a lot of work, and it is, but just ask yourself one question? Is it worth it to do this one time in order to get your home back in one piece?

If you have questions about the upcoming meeting on Feb 22nd @ 10AM in the Party Room of the Main Clubhouse or need help in gathering the information, please feel free to call Jean @ 561-640-7606 or myself, Lee, @ 561-202-8460.

  3. To our friends in CV who have been victims and felt they were not represented at today's meeting with UCO, I say to you: Don't let today's meeting deter you in the least. Use it as a learning experience. Take advantage of what you learned today to help us even more to further our cause of forcing these people to finish the work they contracted to do.

Just remember, talk is cheap and meaningless unless you can back up what you say. For example, meaningless rhetoric like, "I am the victim!" and, "Everyone else is lying, not me!" is worthless without the ability to prove it. One can spew that they are victims until they are blue in the face. Evidence and proof of wrong-doing speaks much louder than words ever could! That is what we intend to prove.

If you have questions about the upcoming "Victims' Rights Group" meeting on Feb 22nd @ 10AM in the Party Room of the Main Clubhouse or need help in gathering information in preparation for the meeting, please feel free to call Jean @ 561-640-7606 or myself, Lee, @ 561-202-8460.

  6. As I mentioned in my previous blog posts, here is additional information regarding the upcoming VRG meeting on the 22nd:

The Century Village Victims' Rights Group (VRG) will have their first

    V.O.I.C.E.S
(Victims of Insurance Casualties Exercising Self-Determination)
    MEETING

    Monday, February 22nd, 10 AM
    Main Clubhouse, Party Room

We are meeting to compile information regarding any present or past improper conduct by 1st Priority, UCO and/or their representatives in the handling of claims for CV residents/owners. This meeting is open to anyone, whether you are already a victim or want to avoid becoming one.
Due to time constraints, it will not be possible for each victim to tell his/her own story at the meeting. We will, however, make arrangements for you to meet with us on a one-on-one basis to go over your individual situations.

Presidents and owners, please bring the following:

    1. Letters, journals, diaries, or statements, all details regarding the claim from the date of occurrence to today, including all conversations, work done, work remaining, and reasons given for not completing the work.

    2. Copies or originals of all documents you received or signed. If you need copies made, bring your originals with you. Some of you have no documents to bring; come anyway and we’ll set up a time to interview you personally.

    3. A listing of all estimates, invoices, checks or money paid out, balances due, or any other related financial paperwork.

    4. Listing of all money you had to unexpectedly pay out or other expenses incurred as a result of your claim being delayed.

We will provide you with preliminary information on how to handle your present claim to avoid further damages. We will then set up individual appointments to assist you with your specific claims. These meetings will be private and held in strictest confidence.

If you need more information prior to the meeting, please call Lee Hunt at 561-202-8460 or Jean Dowling at 561-640-7606. We’ll see you there.
