KEEP IN TOUCH - "FUNDME" CHALLENGE
-
Phyllis inspired me in the way that she reaches out to help other CV residents in so many ways. What could I contribute?
-
Well, I got so psyched that WI-FI may be coming
to CV, I had an idea that might assist some folks in CV keep in touch with
their loved ones… I am setting up a “Fundme” site to raise money to purchase 5
laptops.
-
When the goal is reached, these five laptops can be used in the
village so folks without a computer can “Skype” family members and enjoy the
benefit of seeing their loved ones growing and sharing information in the
comfort of their own homes. Someone in our volunteer group would take the
laptop to the CV resident’s unit, and set up the skype session.
-
After an hour…
it’s on to the next one. The group would all be volunteers (If you’re
interested, just contact me at deb.geller@comcast.net
and I will give you my phone number).
-
I still work full-time, so I would only
be available two or three evenings a week. But it is a start. Until the laptops
are acquired, and/or until the WI-FI arrives, if a resident you know does not
have access to a computer, but would like to Skype a family member, they are
welcome to contact me (you will have to email me to get my phone number for them) to come to my unit on a Monday night and have some family
time on my computer.
-
If there is any interest after I put the word out in the
Reporter, I’ll post the progress here. Anyone else in?

Grass Along Lake
The grass along the lake looks horrible. I know I heard that the grass wasn't being cut 5 ft. from the lake but it is definitely more than 5 ft. I have complete lake view from my condo and it is not a pretty site. Even looking across at the clubhouse looks shabby. I don't think this is a very good idea. Having the grass so long can create ways for snakes and other critters to move around without being seen.

Upgrade our Audio/Video
When was the last time CV upgraded? We need to upgrade to at least 720HD. The audio mikes for the meetings need a better pickup also, I can't always hear everyone. I know part of the problem is holding the mike correctly, but better mikes might be able to compensate. I would like to see blue-ray movies in the clubhouse also.

I wish the three of you a speedy recovery. You are missed, and we need you back!
Who have I missed? Probably a lot more. Be sure you are missed too by many of your friends and neighbors who love you and hope for your best.

PROGRESSIVE DELEGATES VOTE FOR WI-FI IN 2013
Hi all,
After spirited debate, the Delegate Assembly voted yes, to fund Wi-Fi in the UCO 2013 budget.
-
Despite a small group of negative speakers, the Delegates voted to fund Wi-Fi at $2.00 per month per unit.
-
Wi-Fi in Century Village will result in a paradigm shift in the image of our Village, we will be regarded as a forward looking place to live, with an eye to the future.
-
Thanks to the Delegates that made this happen.
-
Dave Israel
-
VILLAGE WI-FI NOW IN HANDS OF THE DELEGATE ASSEMBLY
-
UCO Finance Committee effectively eliminates Wi-Fi in 2013 Budget.
-
Over concerns of UCO Budget coupon increases, the UCO Finance Committee voted 50 cents per month per unit for Wi-Fi in Century Village. This fiscal action, if passed by the Delegate Assembly assures that there will be no Wi-Fi in 2013.
-
I now call upon the Delegates at the next meeting on September 7, 2012, to override this decision by moving and passing a motion from the floor to allocate $2.00 per month per unit in order to assure that Century Village moves into the 21st. Century and acquires Wi-Fi in 2013.
-
If you support this initiative please fill out the Wi-Fi survey form in the UCO reporter and turn it in to UCO. We have received over 300 of these forms, and 90% indicate a favorable response. Also, an increasing number of new applicants to purchase and rent in our Village ask if the Village is Wi-Fi ready.
-
So, Delegates all, make a motion and send this short sighted decision of the Budget Committee back for reconsideration, and vote to allocate $2.00/month/unit in 2013 to make W-Fi happen.
