Faucet Ants

Dear Blog, I have started to try to figure this out but any more suggestions would be gratefully received (not my personal faucet)

Q: I was wondering if anyone other than myself has had a problem with ants coming out of the faucet in the bathtub? This has happened two times. I talked to our contracted pest control about it, they seem to think we would have to get in touch with the city water company... When I turned the water on today, about 100 tiny ants came out!

A: The PBCWUD will probably charge extra for providing ants.

A: Could the ants have colonised a drain vent?

Raccoons

So we think that we have raccoon problems. Here is a blurb written by a friend on Facebook today about her raccoon troubles.

"Damn raccoon was in the house 'again' last night. He comes through the cat window which needs a computer chip to open it but the little devil with his little devil hands pulls the window out and comes in to check out the food......and is quite upset when we try to get him out."

She lives north of Montreal in St-Sauver which is the heart of the ski country in the Laurentian mountains. Over the last couple of years she has posted pictures of the raccoons going through her garbage and in her yard.

Best Glass Lizard Cocktail

Serving a tasty Glass Lizard entre' this summer? Try this refreshing beverage to compliment your succulent meal:

1.5 cl Rum

2.3 cl Vodka

1.5 cl Lime Juice

1 cl Grenadine Syrup

Puree one Glass Lizard

1. Fill a Lowball glass with ice.

2. Pour Vodka over the ice.

Lizard or Snake

Something new frolicked on our walkway, I guess it did not know it was secretive and rarely seen. Sic: Glass lizards are legless they are often mistaken for snakes. These beautiful shiny lizards can be distinguished from snakes by their visible ear openings, eyelids, and small scales on the belly. Glass lizards are the largest of Florida’s native lizards, but the most secretive and difficult to see. They feed on insects and spiders. 3' long and harmless.

Another CV Alligator

Reports from the Clubhouse pool are that there is still a large alligator in the lake - this past week.

No, not this rare white gator which you would have seen at the Palm Beach Zoo if you were with the CV Camera Club trip last Tuesday.

Alligator Sample Signs

How do you know when they are aggressive. You might be history before you have figured out the sign.

Lake

There really should be some signs posted along the lake warning of potential aligators. We are right on the lake and occasionally see small children unsupervized walking on the edge and splashing the water. This is very scary to watch. When we are able, we give them a warning to stay away from the edge. This is a tragedy waiting to happen.

Camera Club of CV

Last month the Camera Club of CV went to the Wakodahatchee Wetlands for flora and fauna. Tomorrow they are off to photograph the Philip Hulitar Sculpture Garden and Four Arts Gardens in Palm Beach. Thanks to Birds American Idol, the mockingbirds that have been displaying and singing outside my windows. An astonishing range of liquid songs. Better than nightingales. Sometimes they sing at night too – just beautiful.

Unidentified insect problem resolved

In another Post, a request for identification of an insect is made. It would appear that the insect is pruning an Aegopodium Podagraria Variegatum, or Euphorbia marginata variant.

The mystery insect is identified above.

This is quite normal and should do no permanent damage to the plant.
